Nice section over 40's

When I joined here in 2001 I was in my 20's, and I'm now posting in an over 40's section!!  I'm back to lifting again, but have had to drop off the number of sets as my joints/tendons mainly in arms have taking some abuse.  I'm always amazed that after long layoffs I can get back to good strength very quickly.  Over the years I've been into road cycling, but I always feel happier lifting weights and being bigger!!

I've not got too many years the right side of 50 left and likewise, still just in my 20s when I joined

Crazy hey, I did try and find a few old post from back then but i think they were archived off.  It's good that there are still some familiar names around.  I'm able to get my strength up, but I am now seeing more and more twinges in joints/tendons etc than before.  Maybe the days of working through 20-30 sets per body part have taken their toll?

Get back into all this with a training journal, Peter. Being an old lifter like yourself I have found that invaluable.
It doesn't even matter if nobody posts or replies, it's the fact you actually write down some kind of routine and can then improve on that training each time that keeps the motivation going.
    Good luck mate :)

I'm an oldy now Pete๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ˜œ Still training after nearly 40 years. Competing in the masters Powerlifting next year and stepping back on stage the year after (bodybuilding and will be doing normal class not over 50's). Train correctly and follow a good diet, plenty of rest oh and yoga (helped me immensely as I've got older) and you'll be surprised what you can achieve.

As per Floydy said get yourself over to the journal section and start posting. Some fantastic guys over there and some old uns too. I think Floydy is even older than me๐Ÿ˜‚ and DV is fast catching me up๐Ÿ˜œ

I'll be 54 this coming Saturday, Dav.
Funny how we get a new lease of life after a couple of wilderness years turning 50 though. I'm actually looking bigger now than I have for about 10 years. Weird thing.

Cheers guys, yes will do.  My training schedule is what is was many years ago, still fall back into that 5 day split.  I've only been back for about 6 weeks, and an old injury niggle has come back, one of the reasons I stopped lifting a few years ago.  My brain thinks I'm still young, and every session I say to myself "this time take it easy"!!  Think I've pulled something again in my left elbow from doing heavy'ish bent over BB rows, now I have pain trying to BB curl.  I've stopped training back this week so hopefully this will sort itself out.
