No claims bonus/buildings insurance question.

Hi guys,
Does one lose ones "no claims bonus" if one makes a buildings insurance claim that is declined?
I recently tried to have my buildings insurance company pay to replace the flat-roofed portion of my house. They rejected the claim outright, putting the damage down to "wear and tear". When it came time to renew I went elsewhere. When I applied for my new insurance (using confused.com/gocompare.com etc) I acted on the assumption that I still have my NCB because the claim I made was rejected outright and nothing was paid out. However, my old insurance company has not sent me out a proof of NCB, which my new company has requested. This has me thinking that maybe I lost my NCB when I made the roof repair claim. Any ideas?

You generally have to report all claims, even if they are rejected by your previous insurer. Can really screw you up come renewal time particularly when switching provider but insurance isn't awfully fair in general.
