Not doing deadlifts for V-shape?

Is it unusual/unheard of for shorter guys not doing deadlifts to avoid the waist becoming too thick.

I'm a short guy, and even when my lats are looking wide, and shoulders built, and at low bodyfat seem to have more of a barrel shape as oppose to the 'v-shape'.

Would be interesting to hear opinions, as dropping deadlifts has been on my mind, with thoughts of adding more rows. But if overall body composition would be compromised, I'd keep them. I enjoy deads in my routine, but i train purely for aesthetics, and will do whatever it takes.

Its a BB myth due to powerlifters having big trunks. Back in the day BB and PL used to train together and have similar diets (not cutting tho) fast forward to today and PL don't care so much any more and eat like crazy as such their trunks got bigger.

Your trunk muscles Abs, TVA and obliques are all slow twitch and as such have very little potential for growth.

My advice is that if you want the V then the deadlift is awesome for developing the whole posterior chain lats and traps included!
