Novice Strongman Events - North of England

I was wondering if anyone knows of any novice strongman shows to the north of the country? Thanks.

Bob Daglish seems to be your best bet. He posts on Phil Wright's board, send him a message. He puts on quite a few strongman contests in the north-east.

    Thanks Collin for your help.

I have just spoken to him actually & the comp sounds like fun. Durham is only 80 miles from Sheffield compared to 280 miles for Dover so I may decide to do the Durham comp.

PS: Collin, did u phone the guy asking for the above info. If u did, thanks for going thru the trouble for the getting the info for me.

No problem mate - it was posted a few pages back on Phil Wright's forum. I remembered reading it a couple of weeks ago.

I spoke to Bob Daglish yesterday to ask his advice about putting on an "Open" level show later in the year. He was very helpful and seemed like a decent bloke.

Who do I contact to get more info about the events and entering that Cheshire comp?

Provided it does not clash with Allhallows I might enter.

He mentioned that actually. I phoned, but he was busy & asked me to call back in 10 mins which I forgot to do. 15 mins later he called me back. He seems nice. He even offered use of the equipment.

Only problem is May is too close, I will never be ready on time. July comp at White Cliffs gives me more time to prepare training wise & get myself sorted jobwise.

Collin: How far is nearest train station from White Cliffs? Or is there any cheap hotels nearby.

Best bet by train is to get the train to dover priory.

From there you can either walt to the bus station in town, about 10 minutes, and get the bus to mayfield road in Whitfield from there. Or you could get a cab to the contst from outside the station - would cost about £5-£7.

I'll find you a few hotels and email you the details when i have a minute.
