"Old"ish men do silly things in the gym as well

Was at the gym tonight, did a nice strong set with 3plates either side, 10 reps and felt easy. Wasn't planning on doing heavier, but thought "What the hell, that felt easy" so put on another 10 either side.

Anyway, didnt have a spotter but thought it wouldnt be needed, still c20kg within 1rm, esp when I took it of and lowered it nice and slowly, feeling good, nice and controlled, reached the bottom, pause and.....................nothing!!

So, fortunately as I had already lowered it slowly it didnt have anywhere to fall but 160KG sat firmly on my chest, with me feeling very silly and calmly saying "Excuse me....."

My name is Matt, and I am a dickhead.

Don't bench heavy without a spotter! Even for the simple fact that unracking it takes energy.

    I'm guessing you didn't do your 180kg after repping 140 for 10!

140k for 10 is fcuking good. Free weight, not smith?

That would put at (when fresh) 170-180k.

    How much do you weigh?

You need to consider those of us that may resemble you in some way!-which could leave a black mark against my excellent lifting record!.

I was perving at a young Brazillian girl on the treadmill the other day-so I move over to the drinks bubbler, bend down to take a drink and the water squirts high over my head and all down my back!!-looked a complete tw4t

I'll cross that bridge after i've burned it.

    Brilliant!

On a similar note I was 'observing' a young lady and forgot that I was balancing a 30kg dumbbell on my knee.  It rolled off and nearly broke my wrist as the force of gravity made itself very clear.
