Once a week enough????

Can we get some opinion on whether training each seperate muscle just once a week really is enough? I will use Bicep only as an example but I have read the info on here for a while now and moved from training each part twice a week to just once a week and I feel really uncomfortable that this just aint pushing it enough. my once a week on say bicep would be 4x8 B/B curls + 4x8 Hammer D/B curls, do I need to add another excersise if only once a week. If anyone feels they have had more gains twice a week I would be interested in knowing?

I have just come off a variable split which trained biceps 3 x a week but only one excercise a day and different reps / sets and routines .. if worked OK but also I have made good gains on once a week by blitzing them and then letting them rest .. generally I would say as long as you are working all angles of the bicep then once a week is plenty .. IMO doing more than one excercise 2-3 times a week risks overtraining and could stunt your gains .. as far as I know most bodybuilders only train em once a week ..

8 sets per week is enough, i reckon.
how you split em up though... is a whole nuther argument.

mine get hit with 6 sets on friday
back day is wednesday, so they take a subtle beating then as well
and on monday, 2 sets of reverse curls for 4 arms

remember if you do biceps on a diff day to your back chances are you are giving them a double workout any how .. as they are in play for pull ups / downs and rows big time ..

All depends how hard you work them. i.e. how much resistance you use and how long you've been doing it. Any muscle will plateu off when it gets used to a stimulus. My training consists of approximately 20 sets per muscle group. (4 exercises, 5 sets of each), rep range depends on which phase i'm in. This is sufficient for me. If your making gains then its ok, if your not something needs to change.

I do the biceps on same day as upright B/B rows and shoulder press, and they take a right beating I do bicep last all on Monday. I do legs and abs on Wed(this includes deadlifts) and triceps and chest on a Friday. Seem to be increasing the weight slightly every couple of weeks but if I measure body parts to see gains I can get different measurements with one of those tape measures as you can stretch them slightly. Also trying to bulk a bit which is giving me less tone so kinda happy kinda not!

I tend to work a back/tri's, chest/bi's, legs/shoulders split which does me fine! Mind you, I've not been training long so have no idea about other splits...
