'One of the lads' ?

Just a quick question fellas. How important is it for you to be 'one of the lads' ? I've got mates but I don't seem to have a group of them. They all seem to be scatered here there and everywhere..lol Whats your thoughts on this ? Or the saying ?

I have very few close friends but have many people I can 'hang' with.

I'm not one of the lads in some of teh circles as I don't drink blah blah blah, but within the gym circle of friends then, to a degree I am.

Tho being married with kids I can never truely be 'one of the lads' again I fear LOL

I used to be one of the lads, big group of us out every weekend. That was geting on for 5-10 years ago now lol, married with child now and being one of the lads again is not for me. I still see a lot of them but they are all in the same situation as me. It's xmas when we have a reunion

This is one area i consider myself to be very fortunate, I have got about four people that i consider to be very close friends (talk to them about very personal stuff, donate you a kidney etc.) then about twenty other friends in various circles ie, gym mates, drinking mates, kickboxing mates, wakeboarding buddies, I find it very easy to make friends. Its got to the point where some friends say "oh your out with your other friends tonight then?"
As for being one of the lads, well depends what you mean, if by this you mean drinking heavily and swearing at strangers if your footy team lose "to keep up the image" then i hate this, if you just mean fitting in and having a laugh with friends then no problems i guess.

Not one of the lads myself, that stopped about 20years ago when I met the future mrs northern35s Now I don't have the time to be one of the lads, too much other stuff going on in my life, especially my work pattern which gets in the way of family life let alone any social circle
