150 days of water. 68 days until the first death, no thanks, maybe if i was in my 70s

I do a lot of push ups and sit ups. And I drink plenty of milk.

They're not allowed to have sex either as there is no medical equipment. .. so I don't understand how they're going to colonise. I heard they plan to send a new batch of people every two years

I used to walk into a room full of people & wonder if they liked me..... Now I look around & wonder if I like them

lol...you really think this will be allowed to happen? allowing random people to sign up to it?
Everyone is kinda laughing at it, their no launch platform nothing.

Considering they will be mostly likely dead before we find a way for anyone to survive the trip, yea, don't count on it.

a private trip by volunteers to Mars, which will be funded by a reality TV show
"I've had support from my friends and family and we can still communicate via the internet."

Ill raise my "lol" to a "FLOL"

See your point, and you're probably right.

Launch pad's can be built, and communication via satalitte doesn't seem overly far fetched I wouldn't have thought.

Sending random people does seem a bit odd.  Even if the technology was *there, I think they'd end up killing each other before they arrive.  Long haul flight or coach trip for say 12 hours would drive me round the bend, let along 6 months.

*There / They're / Their

I used to walk into a room full of people & wonder if they liked me..... Now I look around & wonder if I like them

It will happen.  In 10 years? Maybe not.  But it will happen.  A small group.  Followed by a few more, with supplies.  A small community will be tested to see if it's physiologically possible to re-produce.

The first mission may fail.  But it will happen.

Doesn't take a genius to work out what would happen in that type of scenario if the trip did happen , you would have dog eat dog cannibals with 300 days worth of water within a couple of weeks. Might actually make a decent big brother .

no sex because of no medical equipment on a suicide mission , hmm let me think about that one

Although when there's enough infrastructure on the surface to colonise in 30-40 years worth of trips they might attempt it .

They will probably install a central bank of Mars and assign the planet to the monarchy on day 1 tho..

Not something I would wish to do.

Ignorance: Reassuringly Expensive.
