Operation Cobra Traps

Hey guys, been a long time since I posted here and most of you probably wont remember me. I was competing in powerlifting but seem to be injury prone as I get injured any time I make progress.

My latest injury is a hip/glute injury which seems to be caused by my scoliosis. Basically I cant squat or deadlift anymore without severe pain. Iv been to a few physios, have been rehabbing it for a while now, but am getting nowhere with it. I have not given up hope and will keep working on it, but am also mentally preparing myself for the fact I may never be able to squat or deadlift again.

So in the meantime, my goal is to just get my upper body as big and strong as possible (with a major emphasis on trap size) while I continue rehabbing my lower body.

I may post some vids here over the next week or two showing exactly whats wrong with my squats and deadlifts and maybe someone here can help me. Other than that, its going to be a boring journal consisting of just a few upper body compounds 3x a week lol.

Il do monthly progress pics of my traps too, as it will be interesting to look back on them after 6-12 months. Starting pic is on page 2.

So that ends my essay of an intro lol, thanks for stopping by and feel free to chime in at any time.

Welcome back mate. Glad to see you back.

I'm in as always.

Injury sounds like a huge pain and issue. Is there nothing that can be done? What are the physios saying?

Thanks mate, Il pop into your journal in a bit and see how your doing. Hopefully all is well. Last time I was here was when you were setting up your home gym I think.

Physios are saying Iv got major muscle imbalances due to my scoliosis, along with extremely unflexable hamstrings and some problems with my thoracic spine.

Basically when I squat I lean to one side and one knee tracks very differently to the other no matter what I do. The bar also is always lobsided on my back (regardless of high bar or low bar). I get a sharp pain where the hamstring meets the glute on the right ass cheek as I push out of the hole.

On deadlifts I also lean to one side, and the bar is also always lobsided when holding it in my hands. I get a sharp pain in the glute and hip area as the bar leaves the ground and remains until lockout

Il get some vids of it up soon.

Physios have me doing a lot of hamstring and glute stretches, pistol squats, foam rolling and some basic shoulder mobility.

Will be sure to get some vids up in the coming weeks bud. Im determined to fix this!

Things have been good lately mate, although I have been extremely frustrated and a tad depressed at not being able to squat or deadlift. Im now looking at it as a blessing in disguise though, as it gives me the opportunity to build some serious size and strength to the upper body.

Im going to try and build the biggest traps I possibly can this year as Iv always been obsessed with having huge traps lol

Not flat benching at all these days man, it just doesnt feel good on my shoulder joints. My routine these days consists of ohp, incline bench, above the knee rack pulls and weighted pullups.

I'm in.

Really decent attitude considering all the injuries etc mate. I'm a huge fan of incline bench (more so than flat). Good luck with hitting those cobra traps!!

Glad to have you on board man, thanks for dropping in.

Yeah Iv had enough injuries at this stage to know that feeling sorry for yourself is pointless and that I should be greatfull that at least I can still do upper body stuff.

If I was completely put out of action Id be devastated though lol.

This is just a major setback on a (hopefully) long journey.
