Options for Pre Workout

Hi Guys
I've changed my diet and started hitting the gym for a month or so now, and I've just started using No-xplode 2.0 as a pre work out along with Grenade and a recovery drink, looking for fat burn and Lean Muscle.

Is there something that I can take as an alternative to the No-xplode and keep switching between the two every few weeks, that would allow me to keep the workout intensity but not risk long term use of one product(dependency and compromising effectiveness)?

Cheers
Syd

Switching between pre-workouts isn't necessarily going to reduce effects of getting used to the product as you're likely to be switching from one high caffeine product to another, just with differing cocktails of b vitamins and whatever other ingredients.

The only proper way to combat reduced effectiveness is to take stimulant breaks for a few weeks at a time.

With your other products - you mention you're taking grenade - is that the fat burner or the grenade protein? If it's the fat burner, I'd keep an eye on your caffeine intake as taking high amounts daily will certainly speed up tolerance, plus you're increasing the risk of other high caffeine-related health issues.

No xplode is around 200mg caffeine per scoop and grenade fat burner is 225mg caffeine per 2 cap serving, so say you're taking 2 scoops no xplode and the recommended 2 servings of grenade per day, that's a massive 850mg caffeine before you've even factored in anything like tea, coffee or other caffeinated drinks (if you drink them). Wowzer.

Also, your goals of dropping body fat and adding lean muscle are kinda conflicting - fat loss will require a caloric deficit with a good diet, whereas putting on muscle will require a caloric surplus, so focus on one and then go for the other afterwards (I.e. Cut first and then add on size or vice versa)

Thanks for that.  I'm looking at starting work on muscle development in a few months, for now I'm working on the fat, mainly with CV but with a little bit of Resistance and Free Weights mixed in just for maintenance.

Thanks for the heads up on Pre workouts all being similar, and the caffeine in Grenade, yes it is the Thermo Detonator, which would explain why I haven't been having any coffee cravings this week.

Would it be effective to switch between the two, having a few weeks to a month of one, then the other?

Im not really a fan of NO Xplode the original was good but there's much better out there now.

As Faip said your effectively doubling up with those 2 as there isnt to much difference between a fat burner and a pre workout.

Theres some reviews on pre workouts in this section but as you already have these you could switch between the 2.

What recovery drink you taking? you dont want a load of sugar in it if your trying to lose weight.

Im not currently using one, and after tonight's workout I can feel it.

I was originally going to go with CellMass 2.0 as it marries up with No xplode, but something cropped up and couldn't get any- This payday may well be the day I get some though, seen a few offers for 50 serving tubs for £20.  Maybe I should have gotten that instead of the Grenade.

I wouldn't bother with cell mass - buy yourself a bag of creatine mono (can currently get 1kg for just over a fiver (see the offers thread) ) and add it to any drink throughout the day. Creatine timing is irrelevant. You wont recover any better taking it post workout.

1kg will give you 200 servings for a quarter the price of cell mass. You can tailor it aswell as CM only gives you 3g per serving when the advised intake is 5g per day.

Is there any tailored recovery drink that is worth getting? or just add some creatine to my normal shake and have dioralite and squash (I've been using it for electrolyte replacement) on the way back from the gym?

Sorry mate I totally forgot about this post .

This is the reviews section did you know? that's probably why your not getting many replies.

There are tailored drinks thats do everything but IMHO id carry on with what your doing.A decent protein make sure your getting your creatine in.

Cellmass is way overpriced its nothing special.

I didn't when I posted it, but found out the other day, bit of a DOH moment tbh.

Thanks for the replies, I've ordered a tub of Creatine to go with my normal shake so will see what happens, I'm still a tad concerned that it would work against the weight loss goal with the initial gain from using Creatine, but we'll have to see what happens.

From when the parcel arrives its going to be a shake with creatine and Diet whey, then a post exercise electrolyte with squash, and see if I can turn off the PC, instead of using forums at half past 11 get some decent amounts of sleep.

lol @ the sleep.

Creatine wont affect your weight lose mate. The water weight people speak of is very small and carried in the muscles.

Nice one, good luck with it all. You always got people here to ask as you will here a lot of BS in the gym.
