Ordering from Nutraplanet

I recently ordered from Nutraplanet after seeing the general consensus here is that it's one of the best / most reliable US sites to order from - obviously there is a substantial saving buying most supplements from the US, even taking into account shipping.

HOWEVER, i've just received a letter a week after delivery of my products, giving me a tasty £17 charge to pay to Fed Ex for "Administration Fees".

Has anyone avoided this, and have you done/said anything specific to Nutraplanet when ordering? All i put in my Extra Details box when ordering was "mark as gift" - i didn't ask them to mark it as a certain price, or below $30 etc, should I have done?

I also see they have two delivery options, International Economy and International Priority, both basically the same price - I.E. seems to be fed ex, so would the I.P be the better bet next time to avoid the charge?

Any help or past experience appreciated!

In my experience Nutra have marked the parcel at a low value even when I haven't asked them to (not that I'm complaining ). Supposedly Fed-Ex is significantly more likely to be nabbed by customs than if the parcel was sent by USPS, I'm not sure the reason. I've always chosen the USPS delivery option and never had to pay a customs charge although I might just be lucky.

thanks for the advice chief - i've fired off an email to NP asking them to confirm who does the two differently priced delivery types, and will choose the non fed ex one next time, and will also ask them to mark item as "gift and low value" next time - feel a bit embarassed about that, but if it's gonna save me twenty quid which could be avoided, what the heck!
