Out of the stone age

Finally got round to getting myself a DVD/HD recorder.

I'd been putting it off because 1) I was out of work for most of last year. 2) was waiting for HD plus inbuilt digital/Freeview to become readily available and affordable.

Anyway, cost me £195 for a Sony recorder.
Got it yesterday and spent most of yesterday evening fiddling with it.

I am well impressed!
Not the simplest thing to operate initially but so much better than video.
I copied a few things I had on video onto the HD.
One of the anoying things about video is you never know what's on the tape where.
HD/DVD is so simple.
Also, I started watching some of the things whilst recording of others was in progress.
Can set programmes to record directly from the digital TV guide.

I realise some of you will have had these for years and years but I finally feel I am out of the stone age.

Won't be sorry to see the back of magnetic tape!

Yeah, has similar abilities to Sky+.
    Can "pause" live TV.
Like you I don't watch much but usually busy most evenings so like to record stuff and watch it when I can.
Very useful if you get phone calls mid program, or have kids who need a drink/toilet, etc. when Torchwood is on.

Yeah I love my sky+ HD.

Not sure how I would ever go without it now. I think it just about competes with my PS3 but it wouldn't be the one I grabbed in a fire.

Wait until you watch a nature programme in HD. Minds will be blown.
