Overcoming stage fright....

Muscle... check.
Condition... check.
Tan... check.
Directions to show... check.
Posing pants... check.

The b4lls to actually walk on stage in pants and get picked to bits by half a dozen judges and an audience... er, er, er.

Any suggestions for overcoming "stage fright"? Hypnosis? Visualisation?

Help please.

Thanks in advance.

As soon as i read this topic i thought of an episode of The Simpsons where Homer is in the same position, and what he done was imagined everybody in the audience was in their underwear it worked for him. Dunno if its good advice but there ya go.

What if you get a boner?

Do the judges judge over a loud speaker i,e. can you hear them?

Do you belong on that stage or is your body a joke?

Believe in yourself and your body. You're good enough to be up there. Hey, people are coming to see top quality muscle and they will get it in you. There are people in that audience who are you willing you on, they are on your side - you are among friends who want to see all that bloody effort and talent on display.

Now get up there and show them what you've got!

ive been in a boxing ring 6 times in my life - perhaps a similar experience

The only advice i can give you, which worked for me, is remember that 99% of the audience is no where near your level. You arent being judged by them as such, if anything they are in awe of you.

Its easy to see them as many eyes bearing down on you but the reality its alot of people looking up to you. that gave me a feeling of control at least. For me it was all about feeling confident to overcome the nerves of being in front of so many people.

On the day stay quiet, calm and i used to not like having many people around me yacking away. just peaceful and then you can use visualization. i would do this in slow motion in my head.

I know nothing about posing on stage or what your routine is but if i can relate again to boxing id make sure you practice your routine till you can do it in your sleep, backwards, forwards and sideways. if you get what i mean.

hope this helps, also Rightyho i sent you an email about loose skin once before, im not sure if you got it though, we met before at your gym in november. and good luck with your show.

a large paid of socks in my posing pants would help me!!!

perhaps run through your routine in front of:

    1) gf
    2) m8s (who will constantly be taking piss)
    3) gfs family
    4) gfs familys friends and their postman
    5) randomly start posing in the supermarket (this one is optional)

Yeah, but practising in stockings and suspenders outside McDonalds on a Saturday afternoon is just way tooooo scary to contemplate.

Wonder what drab4, I mean dirtyvest, dirtyvest, dirtyvest, dirtyvest, dirtyvest might have to suggest?

it is scary no doubt but once your out there youll love it.

i just stared at the back wall the whole time, and what youll prob be faced with is bright white lights shining right in your face so you cant see much anyway, chances are youll not even be able to makeout anyone in the audience.

get yourself fired up before you go out, pump up and get out there with a bit of confidence!

its such a buzz afterwards youll be desperate to get back on stage, garunteed!

I've acted many times infront of crowds/audiences. I **** myself before hand incase i forget a line or something (especially as i'm usually an important character). There's nothing you can do to stop it.. it's natural. I guarrentee (never know how to spell that ****ing word! lol) after the first 5 mins you'll be loving it mate. I always do.

    Good luck dude :)

Just do it. Stop thinking about being scared and just do it. There are worse things.

pratice in front of your mates a few times doing your routine and all the compulsories. When you get out on stage you will find it hard to see people with all the bright lights and the rush of adrenaline of being on stage is unreal.
I find the hardest part is the 5-10 mins before when your waiting to get called out.
