Owww My F***** Neck

Lol, slight accident earlier.

Was doing lat pulldowns and after 1 set felt a slight pwang in my neck. Not really pain more like a throbbing, took a few mins for it to go away but was aching for the rest of my session.

Read online its caused by leaning forward when doing it. Not sure if thats the case, but does that sound likely?

Dont really wanna attempt (what is for me) heavy sets again unless I know how to avoid it.

Anyone else had that?

If you were leaning forwards,do you perform pulldowns to the rear?....

I'm certainly no doctor but have experienced something similar a few times.........Once i even got it from yawning!(don't laugh,it's true!)..

It starts with throbbing and then eases to a sickly ache...Sounds like the muscle went into spasm...

If you were performing pulldowns to the rear, your traps could've tightened in the contracted position and caused the spasm/trapped a nerve..

Nah I was doing em in front. I usually slightly lean back so not sure if I leant forward.

My mum said its just because I was tensed up and need to relax. Slightly hard when pulling 80kg!

    Dunno tbh, wasnt pleasant anyway.

Don't take this the wrong way, but if you were pulling 80kg with your build are you sure that you were doing it with good form?

This happened with 75kg, but I see your point. Dunno TBH, I wasnt using thumbs to grip, was doing it slow, down to chest past chin, cant really do much more?

Im a stone heavier than my pic below if that makes any difference.

I sent my left levator scapulea into spasm about 4 weeks ago after doing some static holds. It can be from pushing it a bit too much, or poor posture / position.

Wouldnt worry too much about it though, its nothing compared to a strain. Mine loosened up after 3 days.

It was pretty hard. Probably from training to failure. Cheers for that info, I'll google that scapulea thing.

Did you warm up properly? My first exercise on back day is lat pull downs, I start with just 30-40kg and do a set of 30 reps...so easy to go into exercises too heavy even when you're itching to go!
