PWO shake

What do you guys have post work-out? I'm thinking i need to add some carbs to my whey protein shake. I normally just have a whey shake, then some food (chicken salad or omelette). Am i right in thinking 40-50g of Waxy Maize with 25-30g would make an ideal PWO shake?

Cheers

Depends on your goals, but carbs pre and protein post, with a protein carb meal post post will suffice.

If you love something let it go,if it comes back to you it's yours,if it doesn't it never was.

Look at the bigger picture and what your goals are first. Structure your food intake around your goals and work towards it.

Carbs post workout are an option for sure, although not essential, but post work out is a good time to take advantage of a hormonal shift (Providing the workout was good enough to warrant it)

Popular choice of carbs post work out supplement wise are dextrose, maltodextrin, waxy maize starch, vitargo and HBCD. (I've listed them in a rough price order too, cheapest first)

Of course, you can just eat some carbs too, it's just down to preference.

50g Whey concentrate and some simple sugars  in the form of dextrose or WMS.
Ignore the people raving about hydrolysed whey protein as the addition of any form of sugar makes the 'speed of digestion' of protein a moot point.

add 3-5g of creatine PWO if you are using creatine pre-workout also.

tailor the carb intake as per your dietry needs, i'm on lowish carbs so have 25-35g of PWO sugars to help stave off catabolism.

Cheers guys for replies. Good point re adding creatine. Lots of articles on t'internet - some say FAST acting carbs vital after a workout.... and some say protein (whey or whey/casein) is enough. I'll try 30g.

I normally have an apple, 30g whey protein and a double espresso with few supps like creatine, bcaa (vomit), tarune  etc which seems to do the trick although when i have leg day i really struggle with eneregy but then again I'm on a cut.

Post workout I tend to just have 40-50g whey protein with cinnamon when i get home and seems to do the trick for me.

Question: would you guys say it's more important to focus on your carb intake PRE or POST workout? i hear a lot of mixed reviews.

P.s sorry to jack your thread!

I prefer post, but that is from my own personal feedback and own feelings. I feel better having them post.

It will take some tweaking but ultimately, you'll need to experiment.

30g Whey of any kind ( Concentrate, Isolate, Hydrosalate), 60g fast carbs (WMS, Dextrose, Malto), 5g glutamine and 5g creatine for me PWO.

Generally pre workout I go with a formula blend from one of the bulk suppliers with staple ingredients such as caffiene, taurine etc.
