Look at the bigger picture and what your goals are first. Structure your food intake around your goals and work towards it.
Carbs post workout are an option for sure, although not essential, but post work out is a good time to take advantage of a hormonal shift (Providing the workout was good enough to warrant it)
Popular choice of carbs post work out supplement wise are dextrose, maltodextrin, waxy maize starch, vitargo and HBCD. (I've listed them in a rough price order too, cheapest first)
Of course, you can just eat some carbs too, it's just down to preference.
