People who own sports cars (z4,boxster,350z,mustang)

Basically having done some initial research if i pay about £70 more a month instead of hiring something like a yaris i could buy a second hand sports car, and i get a specail rate on the loan for it of 4.2%. Just don't know what to get.

If you own a sports car can u tell me the make and the pro's and con's of the car from your point of view. I'd like a boxster but thats mainly just cause of the looks, another thought is a honda s200 but not that keen on the looks but very quick car. Its a tough one as the boys wanna start doing regular track days and don't wanna get left behind in there dust.

Oh they have two mustangs one is a GT the other a calafornia special, one 350Z and a crysler crossfire. I may only be out here for a year-18 months and know i'll lose money if i buy for such a short period of time but to be honest to be driving round dubai in the sun in a 2 seater for a year its worth it i reckon.

    cons

expensive to run compared to others
people will think you are a hairdresser, female or homosexual
you prang it and its big bucks
non of those are going to have perfromance for £ unless its a top of the shop version
    novelty wears off quickly

    pros

not sure TBH beyond a few weeks 'fun away from a mainstream car'

out of interest due you know how much a good mustang costs?

for track days look at a skyline, evo, scooby....not a floppy Z4

my mate got his calafornia special new for £19,500 second hand can pick up a gt 05 model for about 12k.

the things that are swayin me is well fuel costs next to nothing out here, insurance you don't have premiums as such you just pay 10% of the value of the car and thats that crash or no crash. I agree on performance etc and have looked at an evo 9 but tbh i'm just not a fan of the looks of a scooby or an evo. I also agree on the novelty thing but like i said mite only be here for 18 months so just fancy enjoyin a nice motor for a while

Out of the ones you mention I'd go for the S2000.Not blistering,0-60 in about 6 I think, but quick enough, look the business and amazingly reliable by all accounts. If you're gonna go down the Impreza,Evo,Skyline road I'd go for a Skyline personally.Performance is all similar but it seems everybody and his wife has an Impreza these days.

    evo or z4?

    no contest

you cannot take a Z4 tracking unless its the 3.0 or the M

even then it would be a bit floppy

Z4 M coupe would be better but more money

The Evo is much more practical day to day. 4door, big boot. Awesome performance, but I hope the roads are good where you are, cos the ride can be a little hard and on bad roads it soons starts to p you off.

if it was a z4 i would be looking at the 3L, a mustang would be good as they do have rear seats and a decent boot but crap at going round corners. hopefully goin for a load of test drives next week and see what takes my fancy. Could always get a hummer lol

the z4m is a sexy car imo.

of the ones you mention id probably go with the 350z, having said that a mate of mine bought himself a continental gt and got rid of it within a month because he prefered his crossfire

    Z4 M Coupe's are gorgeous!

What's your budget and what do you want in a car?

Fun on the road and around a track, my first choice without a shadow of a doubt would be a Murtaya.

Less of a budget, - VX220 turbo - also without a shadow. Or maybe an S2 Elise 111r? Or, an S2 with honda or audi engine

Z4 is a girls car, id get something monstorous as the juice is so cheap where you are. I dont have examples as i dont know what is available to you but some sort of muscle car and it would have to be a drop top.

a 3.0l Z4 for 12k? even in UAE? i would be very suprised

may aswell seek out the lotus option or VX220 suggested above if you dont want a mans car like an evo or skyline

to be honest bud neither of those cars are that quick and not for 12k.

I know you want a soft top but i'd look at a M5.

or if you really want a sports car then lotus, vx220, tvr maybe but if it goes wrong ££££

Man's car? I thought they were label was "rice racers" car?

If you get a hot hatch you'll always be wishing you brought a proper sports car / drivers car.

can i ask what this is mainly for?
you say your mates are going to do trackdays? so i assume you want to beat them?

if so and they are going with mustangs and 350z's go with a vx220 quicker than all the others round a track, the other option is a westfield.
all depends on whats available like redman said...

dont go with the mustang, they look good but they drive like shat.
how much do honda nsx's go for out there? there has been the odd one pop up for sale over here for 12k occasionally.

You do not want an open top in the kind of climate that Dubai offers.
