Week 7 day 2

Bench 130kg 4x4
deadlift 180 4 sets of 1
Bent over row 100kg 5x5

Felt pretty good today.  Tried out a hook grip.  it felt alright until the 2nd single then hurt a bit, but I stuck with it.
Things I like about hook grip are the bar is balanced way better, usually with under over it will be slanted to one side, then I try to correct between reps and over-correct.  Also with conventional under/over, my elbow gets in the way of my knee on the supinated side.  With over-over grip, there's more room for the knees.
I don't think it hurts that bad with the kind of weights I lift.  unless I was doing high reps, then it'd be awful, but one thing I don't like is that it takes a while to set up.  I like to just get really tight, slowly go down, grab and pull.   I don't pump the legs like some people do.  But if using straps or hook grip, you can't really do that.

I made the mistake of watching a compilation of people rupturing their biceps while deadlifting on instagram yesterday. Now I’ve got it in my head in need to work hook again. And I may as well start. I was I’m not lifting anything heavy.. but this time I’m going to tape my thumbs. Last time, I didn’t and I knew all about it!

hook grip is easier for sumo because thumbs aren't in the knurling.  I think on a newer bar pulling conventional it'd be a lot more painful.

WEEK 7 day 4
squat 142.5kg 3 x 4
shoulder press 4 x 6
seated row 3 x 6
lunge 4x4

wee7 7 day 4

missed saturday, tried to do on sunday but ran out of time.  Now everything is kind of messed up.

Bench 135 4 x 2
125 4, 3,
DL pause 160 3 x 2
BOR 100kg 1 x 5 ( time up had to go)

So I have 4 workout days to do this week 3 of them involving bench, and I can't bench on monday because I benched on sunday.  So it's not going to be possible.

Well that's annoying. Not ideal I know but can't you just move everything along a few days so your 'week' starts on monday to tuesday for example? I personally run an 8 day week as it fits in better with work.

thanks mate, its my only semi-decent lift.

Week 8 day 2

Had a long sweaty day at work. I planned to buy bananas for pre-workout fuel but they were these small local bananas which aren't ripe until they're black apparently.  So got some nuts instead for the salt.  I don't know how much they helped.  First deadlift felt easy, 2nd and 3rd not so much maybe too pre-occupied with getting the hook grip in correctly.

DL 185kg 1,1,1,
bench 132.5kg 3,3,3
Bent over row 100kg 5,5,5

weeek 8 day 3

squat 145kg 3x3
shoulder press - about 80% of the stack 3 x 6
seated row, stack 4 x 6

Think my squat has gone backwards a bit.  Not feeling the groove like I was a couple of weeks ago.

week 8 day 4

This final week has coincided with busiest time at work in about 6 months.  Saturday, worked til 4, went to gym, then back to work.

Bench 142.5kg x 1
137.5kg x2,2,2
close grip 100kg 2,2,2

thats the only thing in the program for today.  They all felt like grinders.

Benching heavy mutliple times a week is just painful at this point.  I've done programs before where you over-reach and bounce back in the final week, but this one doesn't seem to back off enough (in terms of intensity) to allow that.

Definitely will change or modify this program, unless I absolutely kill it next week if/when I 1rm test next week.  But not sure work will permit.

If I have a quiet day I will try to max out.  If it continues to be busy there's no way.

really busy at work, instead of deload i took a whole week off.  That bryce lewis program was too much bench volume for me.  After resting a week all the aches and pains in my shoulders wrists and elbows was completely gone.  Probably too long of a rest to get the ideal bounce-back though.

Monday

bench 150kg touch and go.  Touch and go personal best.

Didn't film because didn't feel confident.  Also feel like a twat filming myself sometimes.  Also touch and go doesn't count.
Didn't really feel like 1rm squat or dl.  so will do later in week maybe.
