I have a phone interview about 7ish for a customer service role I have applied for.

Any tips on the sorts of questions I should be prepared for?

Never been in a call centre job but I would imagine they would ask you the usual:

    Your strengths,

strong communication, being able to express yourself clearly and consiously.

Time Management skills, prioritising tasks and delievering them to a high standard. Working to deadlines in the past etc.

Working with others, being able to work together in a team, bouncing off of others. People person etc.

Friendly outgoing personality. Stays cool under pressure.

    Computer literate, word, excel etc.

Try and have examples of previous employment were you have exercised and honed your skills. Also be prepared for them to put scenarios to you:

i.e How would you deal with an agressive customer?

    Weaknesses,

Always have a weakness prepared, I hate that question but some companies insist in asking you what you are crap at?

Do a wee bit of reading up on the company before hand and have a few questions for them prepared for the end of the interview.

Good luck I hope you get advice from someone in the call centre field!

Give examples of when you've gone 'the extra mile' to a customer.. as in going 'beyond' your job role to provide excellent customer service.

Tell them that the customer thanked you afterwards or your manager noticed it and told you job well done.. etc.

I got that question three times already...

Ok, done a few of these. First off you need to print a copy of your CV (if they have one) and make sure your familiar with what you've written. Secondly, get a few peices of blank paper and write down what you think the key questions will be that they will ask, and some responses to these. Likley questions will be standard type interview things like:

how do you perform in a team
    what is your best strength/weakness
    what would you do if......
    what are your career aspirations
    whats your best acheivement

be prepared for them to focus on any gaps in your CV, be prepared and have answers for these.

other than that, don't let them rush you to answer questions, be upbeat, not solemn.

    theres no substitute for preparation.

    Good luck.

best bet about weaknesses is to say youre a perfectionist as that is both a strength and a weakness, works every time

I had that one once upon a time also. Worth thinking about.

What you could do is write down on paper how you fitted the original criteria as they are sure to reference it in more detail. If its in front of you, you won't forget!

Did they say it would be a competency interview? Had one today with Lloyds (face to face) aswell as a role play excercise and a team exercise.

    Got the job though
