Pictures - hpw to stop people copy & paste etc

Just wondered how you can upload pics to a website and stop it being taken. Usually you can copy and paste something but i tried this with something before and it wouldnt let me do so. Just wondered what software you can get to do this. Also is it possible to stop people just printing the images as well. I wud have checked but didnt have a printer.

thanks

    In short? No.

    You could get hold of a JavaScript that could prevent it to some extent, or if you embed it in a Flash movie, that will prevent direct ripping, but as above, anyone can printscreen.

    Unaffiliated.

    Don't put them online to start with?

    Seriously though i've been on some web pages and you can't right click on images - think it's javascript that somehow allows you to do that. Though you can always do what irishbeast has done above, so it's not foolproof.

    Here you go buddy, my bill is in the post.

    put this code at the end of your page just above </body> This disables right click

    <script language="JavaScript1.2">

    /*
    Disable right click script II (on images)- By Dynamicdrive.com
    For full source, Terms of service, and 100s DTHML scripts
    Visit http://www.dynamicdrive.com
    */

    var clickmessage="Right click disabled on images!"

    function disableclick(e) {
    if (document.all) {
    if (event.button==2||event.button==3) {
    if (event.srcElement.tagName=="IMG"){
    alert(clickmessage);
    return false;
    }
    }
    }
    else if (document.layers) {
    if (e.which == 3) {
    alert(clickmessage);
    return false;
    }
    }
    else if (document.getElementById){
    if (e.which==3&&e.target.tagName=="IMG"){
    alert(clickmessage)
    return false
    }
    }
    }

    function associateimages(){
    for(i=0;i<document.images.length;i++)
    document.images.onmousedown=disableclick;
    }

    if (document.all)
    document.onmousedown=disableclick
    else if (document.getElementById)
    document.onmouseup=disableclick
    else if (document.layers)
    associateimages()
    </script>

    TO DISABLE THE TOOLBAR TO PRINT THE IMAGE
    insert this code into the <HEAD> section
    <META HTTP-EQUIV="imagetoolbar" CONTENT="no">

    Or even easier again is to contact www.stevensonit.com and we will do it all for you

    disabling right click will not stop people taking your image. Watermarking IMO is the better option.

    Yep, with that you just turn off Javascript or even drag the image to the address bar and then you have it "unprotected"

    You can't really protect it, there are loads of developers tools out there to get around these things.

    Watermarking is pretty much the only way

    I run websites for a few pro boxers; and I always used a simliar bit of Javascript as above. The problem is (as already explained) anyone can do a screen dump.

    Digital watermarking is the only way really.

    Photoshop will do it for you.

    I forget what the service is, but ive seen pictures that are protected from print scr - they turn black when you try it, no idea what its called.

    Print screen and viewing source code will generally get most images

    Either cut the picture into bits so they cant copy and paste unless they wanna do it for like 20parts for 1 picture

    or

    Put the picture into the background wallpaper and write something on top of it as a seethrough picture so when they copy they copy the seethrough picture... that way if they print screen they will get the writing of your website blabla.com over the picture and if they copy it they will only copy the seethrough picture and not the background.
