Pistorius eligible for Olympics

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/athletics/7243481.stm

Discuss?

IMO - he shouldn't be allowed. Might loose my legs and attach a set of wheels and an engine!
I also don't think he will even qualify, so it won't be an issue, think there are able bodied people in South Africa that are quicker than him, will be interesting to see.

Either way, bet he'll be getting legless, out celebrating tonight!

    Yeah.

If he got to the games he'd never make it out of the first heats looking at his times

IMO I don`t think he should be able to, studies from a programme I saw showed the evidence that the length of the leg from the knee to the heel was a massive factor in how fast a person can run, I think this along with that maybe the blades weigh less than most peoples lower legs also gives him an advantage.

Don`t get me wrong though, I`m not `up in arms` about it, just think it gives an unfair edge.

OK Neb I see what you mean mate so I`ll re-phrase it, it gives him the advantage of competing out of what his natural ability would allow him to, I`ve seen the evidence lol.

I don`t mean to sound harsh with regards to his dreams but there are plenty of people out there who have similar dreams who never get anywhere near them, I`m not taking anything away from the lad either, I think he`s a fantastic role model.

Hey mate....99% of the athletes in this years games will have an advantage to enable them to go beyond their natural ability

His dreams are worth no more than anyone else's.

If he achieves anything, it will be because of his artificial legs. I can't believe that they determined with any accuracy if his legs are no better than legs of flesh and bone. But even if they did and he goes and wins, his victory will be tainted.

Ok he wont win but been an aspiring athlete myself, i know this guy has a huge desire to compete on the best stage and nobody has dropped the standard of entry times for him. I hope he can manage the 'A' standard time and achieve his dreams like an other athlete
