Please can someone who knows about fractures help?

Is there anyone who knows about bone fracture healing and anabolic steroids or growth hormones?

I have broken my 5th metacarpal in my right hand and doc says cant train for 6 weeks, i cant go 6 weeks without training though it will drive me insane. Ive read on emedicine that after 4 weeks it should be ok, im wondering if anyone knows if the use of anavar (oxandrolone) can help to heal the fracture in quicker time so ill be training in 3 weeks again. Im thinking of going on holiday for 2 weeks and running oxandrolone whilst on holiday and bridge it to the next cycle, this will mean i have minimal muscle loss whilst being inactive and im sure i can manage a way of doing pressups to get a pump and walk on the beach and try to take my mind off of this situation and make most of it.

Does anyone think oxandrolone will accelerate bone fracture healing at all, or will it be bad for the healing process? Also what about growth hormone or is there a way i can administer localised insulin growth factor or igf 1 into my hand because i know that this helps heal fractures quicker. It isnt a serious fracture at all but its really making me unhappy. If anyone knows anything or anywhere else to ask for advice PLEASE can you tell.

Shall i ask the specialist for his advice when i go for my chekup? I have read reports on growth hormone use for bone healing but not about anavar, do you think i should ask him or not bother because i know ill get the whole speech again which ive had twice already about how bad aas are for me etc. Its like talking to a robot when talking to most docs, they cant seem to understand how important bodybuilding is to me (or any other person who takes it v seriously) and dont understand about peoples aspirations and dreams, are they that naive to think that pro bodybuilders dont use aas or something?

Anyway, any advice or info would be extremely welcome and id be v grateful, i appreciate this is kind of specialised which is why i put it in general forum as it gets the most viewers.

Thankyou.

I know nothing on the medical side mate, but I can tell you that I broke my right arm about 15 months ago, I was STILL going to the gym. You're not going to want to read what I'm going to say...but here it comes.

You'll still be able to use a LOT of the machines in your gym, for example, you can use a padded pec dec without touching it with your hands. Of course you'd rather use free weights, but you're going to have to be both creative with your adjustment to using machines, and simultaneously realistic about how much you can mitigate this poor situation. I think you might have to go from bulking, to cutting because you can still do your cardio, and if I were you, I'd do it in spades - again, you don't wanna hear it, I sure as fvck wouldn't in your shoes, but there it is.

Other than that...I only hope your left arm, like mine, is a little weaker than your right...

    Speedy recovery mate,

is it in plaster? if so you would still be able to train a certain amount. Especially if its set in a holding-dumbell shape.

You can still do legs, lower back (good mornings etc) , pec deck, you can strap yourself by the wrist to a chin up bar without using hands, similarly strap plates to wrists for shrugs, tricep pressdowns using heel of hand rather than fingers....there are ways around injuries...i would still keep curls and shoulder presses ticking over on the other side because a certain amount of growth both side can be stimulated by working one side (i read somewhere)

take plenty of calcium boron and magnesium in the correct ratio (should be able to get all-in-one supp)

i have heard that GH helps with bone healing no idea on doses or anything tho

Yeah i thought of a routine i could do for 3 weeks before going back to my original routine, ill try it or go on holiday, maybe if holiday has a gym i can go for 2 weeks and then do this makeshift routine and then come back n train properly.

Day one, legs: leg press, leg extesnions, leg curl, standing calve raise

Day two, upper body: machine hammer press (done on palm by wrist and not hand grip) 4 sets, pec dec 4 sets, machine shoulder press 4 sets, tricep pulldowns 4 sets, tricep pushdowns 4 sets, bicep cable curls (balancing one side of bar on my wrist) 4 sets.

I could do 4 workouts a week, 2 of each.

I think if i took a week off and did that routine for 2 weeks then i will be ok and ill be able to commence regular training after 3 weeks.

This may sound a bit freaky but I was recommended Pineapple, and loads of it. I ate one a day for two weeks. Never eaten any since.

I fractured various hand bones doing martial arts, including my 5th metacarpal. In all cases I was back training the next day, albeit taking it easy for a few days. I found that it was the swelling between and around the bone that caused the most pain, rather than the fracture itself - basically once the swelling goes down it gets much easier (maybe try witch hazel or anusol to help with that). Usually the hand feels much better within a couple of weeks, but even before that time it's not too difficult to use more of the inside part of the hand for gripping and pressing and leave out the little finger side - it obviously depends on how bad the fracture is (and how heavy the weight is).

Overall, I think you'll be surprised how quickly things improve, I've found that the hand can take a lot of stick without making things worse.

Quite serious. I got sick of Pineapple very quickly. Maybe it was a joke played on me! I took ages to heal.

    BritBB,

I had a very similar injury about a year ago, when I punched a cement wall (alcohol was definately a factor). After about 5 or 6 days when the swelling went down I was back to training. I think I was able to do most of the basic exercies with only small discomfort.

When doing things like bench press (bar or dumbell) and shoulder press just try and put the emphases of the weight towards the palm of your hand and try not to grib the bar too hard. With curls, try and hold the weight in your hand with the unaffected fingers. Also by using the ez-curl bar I found that my other hand could help sturdy the bar and eliminate most discomfort.

    good luck,

    No, neither.

    Also what about growth hormone
May help with healing a little bit.

    Not really.
