Popcorn Toppings

Popcorn seems all the rage at the moment, they charge a fortune in the ready made bags. Its high in anti oxidants and very good for you.

I love making popcorn its extremely cheap (500g for £1.40 in Asda) compared to buying it and simple as putting some in a pot for 5 mins and let it pop.

You get lovely fresh popcorn.

I like to put agave syrup and melted coconut oil over the top also tried agave and salt so make sweet and salt. Both tasty

Anyone got any other good toppings they want to share?

that is another good thing about making your own its easy to get rid of the unpopped ones as they stay on the bottom .

When you buy some ready made they always seem to have some

In the long run it is a good thing. Like sweet, salted, cheese, and toffee, so the cals and sugar won't be missed.
Then i was put of sweets/toffee, first bit i had had in ages, it tore the filling out of the tooth the popcorn broke, lol

I like soy sauce or salt and vinegar.... or pour over some melted butter (and maybe a sprinkle of parmesan too).

Worcestershire Sauce is nice too

I made a nice savory blend for popcorn - garlic powder, rosemary powder, salt and fine pepper

Cant remember the quantities of each off the top of my head, but it tastes great.  Use a bit of 1 cal to get it to stick

Sorry mate I worded that wrong I mean Vinegar with all the same sort as stuff adamski posted. When you wrote it I thought you meant a salt and vinegar flavouring rather than actual vinegar.

Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden were raving about it.

Here we go Phil Vickerys

Salt vinegar and paprika popcorn
(Serves 4 to 6 people)
Preparation time is 15 minutes and cooking time is 10 minutes.
Ingredients
  • 250g popping corn
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp pouring salt
  • 1 level tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp dried garlic powder
  • 2-3 tbsp malt or any vinegar
Method
  1. Heat the oil in a heavy bottomed saucepan, take care not to burn.
  2. Add the corn, and turn the heat down slightly.
  3. Cover, then leave to cook until all the popping has ceased.
  4. Turn out the hot popcorn, then sprinkle with the salt, paprika and garlic.
  5. Really mix well while hot.
  6. When ready to serve drizzle over a little malt vinegar

Not something I've ever been a fan of. Butterkist is too sweet and the stuff which comes in a bucket at the cinema is bland or too salty.
Much rather devour a bag of Revels
