Pound Pubs

Got to smile at the people slagging off the pound pubs springing up in the north for being irresponsible. Did anyone criticise Lidl and Aldi for offering fatty foods cheaper to obese people?

the Pound Bakery have given greggs a run for their money in stockport - they allow skanks to buy 2 sausage rolls for little ShaDiamond (genuine child's name at my wife's school where she works) for the princely sum of a quid to keep them quiet whilst they're in the money shop to get a payday loan because their mate's going tenerife and can get cheap cigs

Some pubs in Glasgow sell alcohol a pound a drink on certain nights, it was even 89p for a single vodka for a while i had many doubles during this period.

our SU bar at uni had nasdaq nights - prices would fluctuate all night but at one point went down to 50p a pint.

another night they were getting rid of short dated WKD (iron brew) for 50p/bottle. i lost 2 days with the single worst hangover i've ever had. never been close to being that bad before or since.

i dont really drink very rarely but seems ok to me. The prices are getting mental.

My Dad is/was ( i dunno alive or dead) a alcoholic this wouldn't have encouraged him. If he didnt have money he would drink Mouthwash or break into a off licence or pub.

As far as I'm aware we don't have any in Hull as yet, though it would be an ideal city for an establishment like this. There may be one in the city centre but I try not to do my drinking there.

Having said that, my local Wetherspoon's is I believe one of the cheapest in the country for a pint. Real ale is £1.55-£1.85 a pint and is top quality beer. And because it's out of the town centre it doesn't attract the undesirable clientelle.
It's my new local haunt and I prefer it to the pub at the end of my road. The greedy, robbing b@stard.

How do they charge so little? I would have thought that the tax on alcohol would be enough to prohibit such low prices?

Hello fellow East Yorkshire person, haven't come across you before but then I don't really know anybody on here yet.
I go to Zachariah Pearson ("Zak's" ) on Beverley Road mate. It's not yer typical plastic Wetherspoon's pub, it's a real locals bar and I'm rather spoilt now as it's got everything a good pub needs. Great food too.

Can't beat those prices in Cambodia though pal, that's just bonkers isn't it?

Talk again mate. What gym do you go to btw? :)

I don't know the gyms in Beverley at all though I'm always there most weekends with the missus. Always liked the place and usually pop in Nellies for a quick pint.
I'm at the new JDGym on Clough Road. Best commercial place I've been to.
Enjoy rest of your hol's mate :)

Sounds good mate. There's a really big free weights area and I only pay £12.49 p.m. no contract.

It wouldn't go down too well at the dance studio if you're in the middle of the floor doing deadlifts :D

The reason pubs can be criticized for selling cheap drink, but shops can't be criticized for selling cheap unhealthy food is that fatness is a genetic disability, much like stupidity, laziness and mullets.
Drink, drugs and smoking are all the first step in a life of crime

the only booze that's going cheap (under £2 a pint) around my area are Real Ales. so there's no concern regarding encouraging alco's or young ones to binge drink as only real men drink Real ales (which I do of course)
