Pre workout bad stomach issue

Hope someone can help with this please.. ive been training first thing in the morning the last few months instead of at night and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Ive played around with food and supps pre workout and I have found that as discussed in a previous post that green tea with coconut oil plus a scoop of karbolic (quick digestings carbs) and a scoop of pre workout powder is working great. Excellent energy and strength. However here lies the issue.. I have been having awful stomach cramps and a terrible gut on training days from about 3pm onwards. By a process of elimination it is definitely the pre workout powder and not the karbolic that is causing the issue. Ive tried a few different ones but still same result. I'm guessing my stomach could be sensitive to the caffeine. My issue is that I really struggle without the caffeine for energy. I absolutely cant stand coffee so I cant get caffeine in that way. Anyone had any similar issues or know of any solutions please!? Thanks

Which preworkout is it? How much caffeine are you taking.
I've regularly loaded up in caffeine but tbh I just enjoy the buzz. Although I'm taking a break from it now. I think if you're struggling for energy without it you need to look at your diet/training/rest/sleep. Caffeine should never be mandatory for a good workout. My workouts haven't suffered at all while off it.

You are just guessing it's the caffeine.   Caffeine pills are super cheap.  Try some to confirm this.

Also IMO that little mix sounds like the ultimate placebo drink.

I have used blood rush and my protein works amino rush with the same effect. You are correct.. I am guessing its the caffeine, it could be other stims in both pre workouts.. however the amino doesn't have a lot of ingredients in. Sleep is good, 8 hours a night..very quiet weekends, I rarely drink. Nutrition is quite on point to be honest. Energy is not a problem in general but I train at 6.30am so have found it hard to train without caffeine. Is it worth trying some quick release like haribo do ubthink? Yes in theory I SHOULD be able to train without any stimsnor caffeine, but I do have better sessions with. The karbolic I have found to help as its a good way of getting carbs into me at such an early time of day.

You don't really need a pre-workout.  The caffeine effect will wear off over time anyway as you become less susceptible to it.  Just workout without it, the energy effect is probably somewhat psychological anyway.

Considered a non-stim pwo instead? Not my thing really but both beta alanine and citrulline malate get a fair amount of positive feedback and are present in a number of products iirc

I train 6am. On an empty stomach. But usually just have carbs in the evening so I'm fine for my morning workout and then let the glycogen run down throughout the day. Get some good pumping music in your ears at that hour too.

Caffeine does make you poop.
There are many other stims out there so no need to just rely on caffeine.
It could also be a sweetner, flavouring or colouring that's doing it to you.
Advice above about caff pills is spot on.

I can confirm this. Caffeine is known as the poop juice for a good reason.

However, sometimes it can be something else that makes it worse.

Many years ago I tried a very well known branded pre workout product, that was very popular at time. I spent my planned gym session on the toilet having nasty green poops... Thought I'd been given a cream pie by the jolly green giant!

Superpump Max gave me bubble guts after just 1 scoop. Had to leave the training session, have a shower and go home.

Superdump.

I'm not knocking it of course, I gave the tub to my mate and he loved it. I think it was the magnesium that did it to me.

Did you try the original Thunderbolt by athlete's fuel? It used 'fresh' niacin and the first time I used it I pulled over on the way to the gym thinking it was the end of days. I stupidly didn't assess tolerance and banged back 3 scoops.

Every square inch of my body itched and was bright red. Had to tell the gym manager I'd had an allergic reaction because he was concerned over how flushed I looked.
