Pre-workout stacks

I recently bought L-tyrosine, Taurine and Caffeine to use as a pre wo stack for increased energy and focus.

I'm taking 4g L-tyrosine
                 200mg caffeine
                 2.5g taurine

It works to a certain extent but isn't anything special. I'm just wondering if I should be taking more/less of these or if any other powders should be added to make for a better wo.

Cheers Joe

Yeah I thought about beta alanine but wasn't too sure what it was for so decided against it. What exactly are the effects/benefits of taking it and how much would you add to the above stack?

Also do you think there is anything I should remove from the stack

I'm no expert by the way, I've only ever used pre-made pre-wo supps like NaNO Vapor, etc. and beta-alanine is one of the main ingredients in those. I think it's the ingredient that gives you that tingly face sensation lol. But some people seem to say that you'll only see benefits from it by dosing it every day for a number of weeks, much like creatine.

But otherwise I'd say that stack looks pretty perfect tbh, maybe up the taurine to 3g perhaps? But according to this article you would have to reduce the caffeine dose if you're going to do that.

Yeah I try only to take the stack on training days which is three days a week, so to keep on taking beta-alanine would be a bit of a nuisance tbh. I may try as you say though and mix how much I'm taking to see if that has a better effect.

I would like to see what would happen if I put the Taurine up to 3g and kept the caffeine at 200mg though.

I've tried quite a few of the pre made supplements but their effects never seem to be string enough on me without taking more than stated which just ends up severely expensive

Wouldn't be too hard to maintain mate, just add it to your shakes?  If you don't have shakes you could to take a little before work or something?

cheers for your help by the way citizenkane.

Yeah that's true wilks. It's the loading phase that does it. where I work it'd be hard to take it with me through the day would only really be able to take it 2 times a day.

Do you reckon I could just take double the amount and take it twice a day rather than taking it the recommended four times a day? Then come the maintenance phase just half the dose or would that just waste it?

Also what exactly does beta alanine do Wilks?

would it be worth adding aakg do you reckon?

    http://www.muscletalk.co.uk/article-beta-alanine.aspx

    There's the science mate.

One site state it's effects as:

Delay the onset of fatigue  Improve physical performance  Increase exercise capacity
In answer to your loading phase I can't see a problem.  The two sites I buy from give the following advice for taking the supplement:

    A)  Loading phase (days 1-5): Consume 1.5g 4 times daily, spaced evenly throughout the day. Best taken with water or fruit juice in-between meals. Maintenance phase (days 6-35): Consume 1.5g 2 times daily, spaced evenly throughout the day. Best taken with water or fruit juice in-between meals.
Upon completion of this cycle take a 2 week break before starting your next Beta Alanine cycle.

    B)  Take 4g-5g daily, divided between 1-2 servings.

    Timing

On workout days take 2g-2.5g about 15-20 minutes before exercise and 2g-2.5g immediately after exercise. On non-workout days take 4g-5g when convenient, ideally with food to reduce the prickling sensation that Beta Alanine supplementation can cause.

    Hope this helps.

The more you take the more hassle tbh opening and closing bags, a scoop of this a scoop of that etc, hence why i go for pre wo formula's eg no xplode/superpump, 1 scoop in water down it job down, no opening and closing 3/4 bags etc.

BA best when taken on a daily basis, most rave about increased endurance when on it, 2g pre wo should suffice, take daily if you wish, this has been compared to creatine, the new creatine apparantly.

Your dosages look fine, could up taurine to 3g as mentioned by Cit kane, BA would make you formula that bit better. But i would save the hassle and go after a pre wo that works for you, up to you though.

Yeah I know what you mean. I've just finished uni so a bit skintoed else I would. Once I get a proper job and have a bit of spare cash I'll start paying for the ready made stuff. I tried NO xplode a couple of years ago. Went through a couple of boxes. I thought it was good to start with but as most things probably do it wore off. But I never stacked it with anything else so may be worth a try.

I bought some AAKG to add to the pre workout stack as well as what I stated above. All in all it has only cost me £15ish so for the mean time it isn't to bad I guess.

Cheers for all of your imput. Joe

Yeah with any pre wo supp you get used to it so time off it then going back on it will mean fresh effects. Good luck.
