I definitely rate both his deadlift and bench programs. Pretty much run them exclusively. For squat though Russian masters is the winner. Overhead press I just bastardise Wendlers a little in my own style.

Day 3

I've done 2 hours of BMX riding at a skate park.  If you've never tried it then it's difficult to appreciate exactly how intense it is as a form of HIIT.  I now feel totally destroyed but it was great fun.  I'm hurting like a motherf&*ker now though.

Tomorrow is Bench day and I'm quite looking forward to it.

I wish I got into BMXing. I used to be really into my street riding and dirt jumping (mtb) in my teens, but I fell off and dislocated my shoulder, then I turned 18 and kinda forgot about my bike because I started going out on the piss and trying to pull girls instead. A couple of lads I used to ride with turned to BMX, and they still have a blast on the tracks and skate parks every so often now.

Probably one of my biggest regrets actually, I'm trying to get back into riding but I feel totally useless on a bike now. Almost zero confidence when it comes to and jumps or drops. I'm having to stick with XC for now just to get some level of fitness back up.

Get on it bud.  I had never ridden a skate park in my life before until I was just turning 36.  I bought a bike when I was 35 to have a go around the BMX track and loved it but I was crap.  Decided to have an induction at my local skate park and just stuck with it.  I'm still crap but I don't care coz it's so much fun.  I've met loads of people and I'm amazed at how many older riders there are out there that are either still going or just starting.  I joined a facebook group called "Ride On BMX" for people of 30 plus.  The main guy put together an edit of all the clips submitted by the members last month and it's both amazing and highly inspirational.  It doesn't matter how good you are people still get behind you.  I even made it into the edit

Here's the link and I must insist you watch it.  I think the youngest guy is 33 and the olderst 60.

Cool video, there's still hope for me yet then! Definitely something I want to look into in the future, I have recently got back in touch with my old biking buddy's to sort out some retro rides, so hopefully something will come from that.

Just checked the FB page out, I'll have to join if I do manage to get a BMX lol. I do follow the Red Bull Bike FB page as well, which gets me psyched up to ride every time I see a new video, either MTB or BMX.

Well I ride at Unit 360 at Stourbridge with a guy who comes over from Tamworth so if you ever fancy joining us you're more than welcome.  Stourbridge indoor park is a great place to start as it's got a small bowl, big bowl and large street section so you can work up.  Creation in Birmingham has a foam pit which is fun but the rest of the park is pretty big and intimidating if you're new to it.

Nice one mate, that skate park looks awesome. Its something I'd love to get my lad into properly as well so good to see they do classes and summer camps. If I do ever get back on one I'll drop you a PM.

I went to Creation back in the day, but that was when it was called Epic. It was daunting back then but never had the foam pit.

I never went to it as Epic but everyone says it was better then.  The foam pit is fun but unless you're fairly confident even the roll in to that looks scary as hell.

Day 4

Training.....

Bench
10 x 60kg
10 x 70kg
10 x 80kg
5 x 90kg
5 x 100kg
5 x 110kg
2 x 3 - 125kg

CG Bench
2 x 3 - 115kg

Incline Bench
2 x 5 - 90kg
10 x 75kg

Wide grip pull ups
3 x 10

Tricep Rope Pull Downs
3 x 10 - 32kg

DB Hammers
3 x 10 - 14kg

Weighted Crunch 10kg / Romanian Twist 15kg
3 x 20 / 3 x 30

Shoulder stretching and mobililty

Treadmill Walk - 5kph - 11 degrees - 15 minutes

Everyone loves bench day.  It all went according to plan.  Incline press was a weak lift for me when I first started out on this program and I'd struggle to get 5 x 70kg.  I've worked at it to bring it up and whilst it's still not quite where the program number wants it to be it's getting close.  Work on your weaknesses to improve your strengths!!

Feeling generally good.  Not sure there's much to report yet.

Day 5

Squat (No Wraps)
2 x 5 - 60kg
5 x 100kg
5 x 140kg
3 x 160kg
4 x 4 - 185kg

Barbell Calf Raise
3 x 25 - 120kg

Leg Curl
3 x 12 - 60kg

Treadmill Walk - 5kph - 11 degrees - 15 minutes

Hip mobility and Hamstring streching

Was a reasonably tough session.  It's interesting because another guy in my gym is running masters too and his numbers will see him try and hit 6 x 6 - 185kg with no wraps in a few weeks.  That would be one horrendously tough session but I think with the right person shouting at me I could possibly get it done.  I'm not convinced I could do it on my own.  Your mind really is the weakest part most of the time.

Could be in my head, it could be the conscious effort to eat better since Sunday but I think I'm already starting to lean out.  I really wish I'd have taken some before photos now.  I might actually have tomorrow as a rest day.

I can't recommend it highly enough.  If you're anywhere near the midlands and you want to join me you're more than welcome.  I mostly ride in the day time during the week as I'm lucky enough to do shifts.  The skate parks are gloriously empty then.  Even if you've got a BMX or pump track near you have a go at that.  You won't believe how totally fooked you can be after just 10 seconds.

Yesterday was Day 6 and I didn't do any training.  I had a few double Gins the night before that too.  Controvertial perhaps but I have no regrets and it'll probably  happen again next week.  I'm going to do over head press shortly.

Day 7

Overhead Press

5 x 40kg
5 x 50kg
5 x 50kg
3 x 70kg
3 x 80kg
3 x 90kg
3 x 3 - 100kg
10 x 60kg

Reverse DB Flyes
3 x 10 - 22kg

Shieko Skull Crushers
3 x 10 - 30kg

Weighted side bends
3 x 20 -  25kg

Shoulder mobility and streching

Treadmill Walk - 5kph - 11 degrees - 15 minutes

The training session was fine and went as expected.  I've been feeling a little depressed and anxious the last two days.  Not saying it's anything to do with this cycle, probably more my life choices but I need to snap out of it as it's making eating difficult.  I eating the food but not enjoying it.
