Protein and Diet

I'm trying to lose a little weight to get under 10% fat, i'm at 12% now, and i want to build some muscle. I go to the gym early in the morning 5 days/week, 30 minutes on weights and 30 cardio. what should i eat before the gym?

Also what protein powders would work best for me? i'm using Muscle Milk, but i'm willing to try others.

Thanks in advance.

Just use normal whey.. comes out cheaper if you get it unflavoured and in bulk. Can take a look at myprotein, bulkpowders, all-in-1, etc. You can go through the MuscleTalk Directory to see a list..

    Or here's a quick link: http://www.muscletalk.co.uk/supplements.asp

As for what to eat before gym.. that would depend on when you train and what else you're eating around training times.

Can you post up your diet in a time-meal format to give us a better picture please.

How much do you weigh now?

    1) looking to lose fat AND build muscle at the same time is setting yourself up to fail IMO. choose one objective and go for it.

    2) As youngitalianbabe says, your full diet is much more important than supplementation. post it up in and people will give you some comments. Protein powder is OK, but you need to get most of your protein from real food.

take a look at these on nutrition -
