Pull up progression. any exp?

Iv never been one for pull ups. However iv decided to try and improve them.
Id like to hit 20 in one sitting...
I normally do pull ups once a weeks 3 sets of maximum reps. I get something like:
8 to 10
6 to 8
3 at a push... so not amazing. I use strict form. I cant get away with the cross fit fish out of water crap.

Anyhow after a bit of googling iv found three methods that iv looked at.
Method 1 - 4 sets of pull ups everytime I enter the gym starting of at set amount and slowly increasing.
Method 2 - Weighted pull ups starting of with 5kg doing as many as I can. Then drop the weight of and do as many as I can. Twice a week.
Method 3 - a full new training plan consisting of two days of back work. This to me seems over kill and I'm happy with my current routine.

I'm leaning towards the weighted pull ups. Has anyone spent time improving there pulls ups? What method did you use?

Quickest way would be to cut some weight from your body by dieting.

I use weighted pull ups, lots of sets, stay clear of failure. vary the weight and the volume to keep progressing.

Another method would be 'greasing the groove'.. .So if you can do ten decent pull-ups you would do 5-8 reps for multiple sets (5+?) throughout the day. Do this pretty much every day and see where things lie at the weeks end. If you increase your max then increase your daily dose. I guess it's like anything. Done enough it becomes second nature.

Weighted pull ups 2-3x a week and no failure.

Wide grip over hand grip, or narrow 'curl' grip?

Does doing pull ups impact your Back workout day?? - i.e. over training? ?

Given you can barely manage 3 reps on your 3rd set weighed pull-ups won't be needed imo.
Once a week won't help much with your strength progression though. Every 3 days I'd suggest.
Also are you doing these at the middle of a workout or the end?
You'll probably need to do them at the start.

Treat it like any other strength training IMO and keep reps low and weight heavy with longer rest periods - so I'd go for less reps weighted rather than bodyweight.
