Query on behalf of my Friend

I am writing this msg for my friend. He has been exercising
with me for 1 year. But it has been his tendency to be
underweight since childhood. He is very thin and has no
amount of fat on his body. He weighs 50. He wants
to gain weight. What should he eat? What should he exercise?
Heavy or light? And can this tendency be overcome?

Please guide.

    He just needs to make sure he eats a lot, and eats often. As far as exercise is concerned, simple, basic exercises. He could start with a full body workout, done twice a week:

    Squat - 3x8
    Deadlift - 3x8
    Dips - 3x8
    bentover rows - 3x8
    close-grip bench - 3x8
    Hammer curls - 3x8
