Quick question about Vitamin B5.

I naturally have a mild case of acne and have had for a number of years, it is very mild though. I find that going on Sunbeds dries my skin out quite nicely, but is not yet perfect.

I have heard that you need between 5 and 10grams of Vit B5 daily to see any difference in skin condition. My question is, does taking such a high dose delpeet your bodies stores of something else? I say this because i know if you have a very high Vitamin C intake it can depleet your body of Zinc.

b vitamins work as a team.
not to deplete some, b complex are better.
i doubt such massive amounts are required.

5-10grams in the Dose for Acne, i have read this in quite a few different articles. Anyone else care to help, or maybe a Mod could move this to the General section (might get more replies)

hi mate, ive been taking b5 at a dose of 10g a ed for under a week now.. mt member "warden" gave me a link to a good company that sells the stuff... skin has definately improved for me, not sure what it depletes but it definately helps your skin.. if you suffer from acne you might also want to try 3 capfulls of detol in with your baths, and use mint sauce shower gel... its green and sorta tall slim triangle shaped available from supermarkets.

Not heard of it depleting your own bodies stores, but that is quite a lot. I suffered from acne for many many years and found that eating shedloads of fruit and drinking a pint of water just before bed helped mine.

Yup it works. I used to suffer from acne and it helped control the acne alot! Basically, A lack of coenzyme A causes spots because you don't have enough to breakdown the oils and secret them back into the blood.

The B5 is converted into CoEnzyme A which breaks down the oils and secrets them back into the blood, therefore you should see reduced oil secretion. Overall, the B5 tackles the root cause of the spots.

A more potent form of B5 is pantethine, which is more effective and only required between 200mg to 900mg. This is because when you intake B5 it is first converted into pantethine then the required Coenzymes, and not all of the B5 is converted into pantethine.

I read somewhere before that b5 in high doses can intefere with the uptake of the other b vits mate. Having said that I ran it long term myself in the past and I think it did help somewhat.

Been on it for nearly a week now, those that have tried it and got results, how long did it take for you to notice?
