Recommend me supplements for anxiety and stress

I have been thinking about buying 5HTP or L-Tryptophan.

I have no idea myself, but my wife gets some stuff from Tesco her friend recommended and she has gone from a highly strung stress head, to Mrs Relaxed.  Infact I might wake her up in a minute and tell her to chill out! From the outside the stuff seems amazing. She has...
    'Bach' Rescue Remedy
    Nelsons Gelsemium and
    Kalms

She tells me its cheap too.  I don't know anything about Homeopathic remedies etc, might be worth googling?

5-htp & tryptophan are expensive. Tryptophan will put you to sleep.

I would first suggest any of the following:

    calcium/magnesium/zinc/B6 (cal/mag during day, zinc/B6 before bed)
    Chamomile
    Valerian
    Hops
    Kava
Rodeolo Roshea (I cant spell it I know)
    GABA
    Melatonin (before bed)

Chamomile tea is cheap and everywhere. Valerian & hops are the basis for products like Kalms or Nytol they can be pricey but can be gotten from the poundstore also. Kava and GABA can be ordered online from the states the same as melatonin. I'd start from the top of the list as they are all easier to obtain and cheaper and work your way down to see what works for you.

Dont forget that there are things you can do also like Progressive Muscular Relaxation, breathing exercises etc

I'd also suggest you stay away from anything containing caffeine.

    Hope this helps
