There were 200 of you at the end that took part  - thanks you to everyone for their time, patience and thought.

There were a number of comments about the questions used.  Some said they were vague and some said a few of the questions seemed pointless.  I couldn't answer at the time as it may have altered the responses people were giving.  If you read the title of the research you will see that it is a measure of  'drives' and 'beliefs'.  It is not a measure of factual knowledge but of what people believe to be true and what drives their behaviour, it is as much about attitudes towards steroid use as what one knows about steroid use:  What one knows to be a fact about a behaviour is not as powerful a motivator of that behaviour as their attitude towards it is.  For instance, people know that cigarette smoking has a very high risk of causing cancer yet they still do it - continuing to smoke is about beliefs and attitudes more than factual knowledge.  To measure such factors requires asking questions in a specific way.  With regard validity:  validity is a question of whether a questionnaire measures what it's purported to and this questionnaire does exactly what it says 'on the tin' - it measures drives (motivators) and the beliefs behind those drives.  If it didn't the it's Chronbachs alpha scores would not be as high as they are.  When looking at anything in life we do so through our own perceptual/experiential spectacles when perhaps we could learn more through thinking 'outside of the box'.  Thanks again guys.

All the best
