Does anyone think its reasonable to ask for a small discount seen as though I have to wait until the end of Jan?

Then it will be another 3 week from then until I have them. So it will be end of Feb. 3 months for delivery in total it will be.  Temped to ask for a refund and get the fitness super stores irons ones you put together yourself. I could do it with rack for £800 plus code so less. At least £400 less. Can't be arsed to wait until Feb. Great CS but delivery/stock issue is letting it down.

Last update until Feb

Matt told me I should have them in first or second week of Feb and they are better quality that fitness super stores ones. Assembly required, lower finish of weight plate, 25mm handles, and washer-style ends.  Good for the money but his are better. I agree. So I'm waiting. I'll get the photos up then.

‘Matt’ would say they his are better quality, if he’s selling them lol.

Bit of a pain having to wait though mate, I would have tried to cancel the order, just to see if he knocked down the price a bit to keep the sale.

He said he is happy to do a refund, I sent him links to strength shop bells and Fitness Superstore pro-style dumbbells. I can get more for my money there. But I agree are different and I still prefer his dumbbells.

This was his last email to me

Hi Paul,

First/ Second week of February is realistic.

The Fitness Superstore pro-style dumbbells are perfectly fine - I've used these many times and even assembled many pairs in the past. Differences are a lower finish of weight plate, 25mm handles, and washer-style ends. They also require assembly. The difference in price is fair between these are CHD.

We deal with Strength Shop daily, as we buy kit from each other. Their service is equally as good as ours - they're good guys. However, these are rubber hex dumbbells with an ergo grip. It is a different dumbbell.

Let me know what you decide. I'm happy to cancel and refund the order, upgrade them to the rubber-coated at no extra-charge, or, just wait until more 5kgs come in to make up the cast CHD's.

Cheers :)Matt

I have said I will wait, but can you add an extra pair of dumbbells considering the long wait. If you are OK sending the rubber coated ones out now. The rubbers ones would be £200 odds more. I would rather wait and have iron bells but another pair of bells. That was my deal.

Maybe it depends on what you order. Anything from fitness super stores turns up 2 or 3 days later.. my bench direct from York was here in 3 days. Dumbbells have to be put together so extra time there I guess. For me waiting 10 or 11 weeks for an order is a long time. I am waiting though.

Trust me if they get a bigger order come in they will deal with them before you & know its Xmas time everyone has time off.
I wouldn't expect them before 12 wks also  i doubt they carry full racks of bells in stock its a storage nightmare so its a bit different from having a bench etc the gym i train @ looked everywhere & nearly all said the same thing these Watson bells are just amazing fair play.

Another update here.

Spoke on the phone to Matt and he's getting back to me soon with what happening. We agreed for a refund then wait until they are in stock, it wouldn't slow anything down or just wait a little longer. So I'm still waiting because I want those dumbbells. No point in a refund only to buy them again probably this month. Waited this long I may as wait a bit more. I was offered the rubber coated bells instead last month at no extra cost, but I declined. I want the old school iron.

I am now told the German's who put them together should have them back in stock this month. Then shipping is 10 - 15 working days.

Its these which I have coming.

One alternative is the body power pro style cast iron dumbbells. I noticed the handle is 25mm though. This a woman size thickness. Most Oly barbells are around 30mm. However I noticed my Oly EZ bar is 25mm. I was told most pro dumbbells in gyms are 30mm the same thickness as the barbell. My adjustable Oly dumbbell handles are 25mm.

Seem ages ago now end of November when I ordered them.

I have both types and both are equally fine.  Although I prefer the rubber ones because with the other type that I have which includes allen key and spinlock, the latter requires constant tightening as it keeps loosening up.

get around spinlock loosening by putting an 0 ring at the collars. they will NEVER loosen.

Dumbbells shipped from Germany. Should get a phone call next week to arrange delivery. Should have them in 2-3 weeks.

Dumbbells and rack arrived today. Really impressed with the solid rack, very heavy duty. Bells are great, nice 30mm thick grip, same as most bars, well balanced, rubber end cap. Please I stuck with the cast iron and didn't have the rubber coated ones. If anyone wants to see them I have a few photos. I'm not sure how to put them up.

That was a wait and a half lol. Worth it though for some quality kit that will last a lifetime. What weight range did you get in the end?

Yeah worth the wait. Really good strong stuff. Well made. I got 15kg, 20kg,25kg,30kg,35kg,40kg. Plus a rack which holds 5 pairs. The 40kg bells go under the rack. Really happy with it all. £1200. I am going write a review on the site. I sent Matt some photos and he said he will put the photos up and on social media as well, so I put a link up.

These dumbbells are hard to find though, most are rubber, or hex shape or don't have a straight handle which  iwanted. Trying find cast iron bells with a straight handle. 30mm thick with rubber end cap was very difficult actually the closest was the self assemble fitness super ones but I sure these are better for reasons already a few post ago. All in all these are great quatily and i would certainly recommend them.

+1 (1)
I have now done upper and lower body work and am happy with the dumbbells. The fixed handles are ok for me. Job done.
