Running up and down steps as cardio

Het guys, new to the board but been working out for a while, and am now looking to try and cut up big time as been bulking up nicely but wana see those goddamn abs lol,

I live in a block of flats and was wondering what people thought of running up and down steps for cardio would be?

There are 47 steps and so was thinking maybe sprint up and job back down would be some sort of HIIT or should I JUST TRY AND RUN UP AND DOWN AT A SIMILAR pace for as long as possible? (sorry about the caps, hand slipped)
has anyone tried this sort of cardio before, will prob try and combine this 3 times a week with 3 hour long cross trainer sessions as well as my normal 45 mins x 4 weights sessions and 1 or two rugby sessions a week.

Cheers and i look forward to getting to know everyone

yes step climbing is one of the best ways to burn calories.  Most people think its easy and overlook its difficulty and benifits.

im just a bit worried about spriting up the steps incase you slip, but if your confident, then go for it.

If you cud time it to be sprinting 20 seconds and actively resting ( jogging bak up and down) for 80 seconds and then doing this for 10 sets, youd have an impressive HIIT workout.  mabye you could sprint up, jogg down, and jogg around on ground until 80 seconds are up then sprint back up.

    try it out

Running up and down steps will be a good cardio workout for sure.

I would just advise common sense re looking out for other people on the stairs! Also keep an eye on how much noise your making, other people live their too :p
