SDLD and Leg Curls?

SDLD and Leg Curls?

My leg routine consists of:


  • Squats 3x8
  • SDLD 3x8
  • Standing Calf Raises 3x8
  • Leg Extensions 3x8
  • Seated Leg Culs 3x8


Last night though I decided not to do the leg curls. My reasoning being that my hams were getting enough from the SDLD's. I felt beter for it too.

My question is: Was I right to drop them or should I keep them in?

Any answers or general advice on my routine would be greatly appreciated

    Well for years all ive done for hams is sldl,the advice you see on forums in books is always says stick to the big compound movements,i got pretty strong on them as well but got very little growth from them,i dropped them altogether 6 months ago and swapped to leg curls instead and ive seen a big improvement.

    Keep doing the routine for a month.

    if you gians are better than normal keep doing it.
    If they are not as good. then put them back in there or at least increase the volume of SLDL to compensate for lack of ham string work.

    Different things work for different people,I,ve always done well with sldl but by all means try leg curls for 6 weeks or so to see how they suit you.

    Well, neither hits all four (?) heads of the hamstrings, so they both have their advantages. But, if forced to choose between the two, I'd go for SLDL everytime. IF you feel you do both, go for it.

    Wipe the sand outta yer fanny and get in the f***ing squat rack!
