SHARP PAIN IN FOREARM

I had to cut my bicep workout short today because the slight pain that was once a niggle for the past month today turned into a real sharp pain all the side of my forearm.

Its at a certain point when i do a rep where im pulling a weight toward me palm up mainly, like preacher curls.

and its only on my right forearm. its realy pissed me off.

Any ideas what the **** this is? Its not as if ive took a big step and started throwin more weights than i can handle on ive been doin about the same weight for about a month.
I'm 18 and in good health and everythin btw.

I'm getting a bit of forearm pain at the moment myself as it happens.Certainly not down to overtraining.I've noticed in the past heavy preachers can bring it on.

Is the pain in the middle of the forearm or in the elbow/ wrist joint?

This type of forearm pain has been the bane of my bicep workouts. On heavy curls or preachers it sometimes feels as though my forearms are going to snap

Trained with some different folks last week and they told me not to let go of the bar straight away on completing the set. Easier said than done I know, especially when your arms are burning, your grip is shot and you just want rid of the damn thing. However, dropping it down to a bench, waiting for a couple of seconds and then slowly releasing the grip did seem to help a bit.
May have just been psychosomatic and based purely on one session, is not much of a recommendation but I'll be trying it again tonight as all straws gratefully (if painfully) clutched as far as that pain goes.

Releasing the bar slowly DEFINITELY helps but the pain can still be excrutiating. Most bicep workouts I'll just not do preacher/barbell curls and stick to close grip pull ups, barbell rows and hammer curls - they may not target the muscle directly but I've never really had a problem getting my biceps to grow anyway.

i had this exactly the same as OP and James, and much like growbag after a while it went away, i stopped doing curls and just did lighter bicep training in other areas and then after a few weeks off it went away as a i got stronger...

So what you reckon i should do, in my bicep workout i usualy do 3 sets of chins anyway, aswell as EZ BB preacher and hammer DB preacher, and did 21 with straight bar yesterday it wasnt much better.

Thinkin of startin a 9 day split next week so this should give it a bit of rest but i think it'll just come back soon

i reckon give it a couple of weeks off, or just do more reps with lighter weights, it helped increase my forearm strength and then when i went back to the heavy curls it was much better......

i get it too, it is holding back my bicep development, i also get it from some pressing if i am gripping too tight

i have to admit hammer curls dont aggrivate it dont know about pull ups... barbell curls are the worst offenders
