STEAK

Where do you guys go to get a decent piece of steak? I’ve been to 2 different Tescos recently and the steak they were selling was pretty awful. Is there any supermarket that gets reasonably good stuff, or should I go to a butcher?

Also, how does the price fair with a butcher; is it worth the extra cost?

Why does everyone assume that a butchers is more?

They are cheaper than your supermarket.

go to your local weekend market, the ones that hold the car boot sales where everyone sells fake DVD's, a lot of markets like this will have a butcher who sells meat in bulk at very good prices, similar to the prices H20 stated. One of my favourites is pork loin steaks, the ones my butchers sell are incredibly lean, probably leaner than any steak you will buy in a supermarket, and at £5 for 5lbs you cant go wrong.

My local butcher does me some fantastic deals, on rump and especially on Fillet steak, he even slices it up into slices to my specifications, he is ace.

Though if you go to Tesco mate, look for there 'Finest' Range of meats, the Rump and Fillet in that range is lovely
