SWP staying at Chelsea

SWP says he has no plans to leave Chelsea despite only 3 starts since January, we wants to see out his contract till 2010.

He's some tosser, players like him make me sick. He's just happy to sit on the sidelines and pick up his money every week. He couldnt be bothered going to another club because he might actually have to play a game.

He must have no ambition to get into the England team or do himself any justice, i hope he rots in the reserves, the greedy d1ckhead.

Harry Kewell is doing quite well for picking up pay cheques and not playing, at least his is through injury though

I understand that but as a footballer you want to play football. Even as a Sunday league player I would be gutted if left on the bench. Sad to see that football is more about money rather than the love of the game

You'd think for most footballers they'd like to play as much as possible, represent their country and be loved by their fans.

Its a sad waste of talent really.

considering sunday league players dont pick up 90k a week - if you did you probably wouldnt mind sitting on the sunday league bench

despite everyones comments theres not one man here who wouldnt do exactly what he is doing

Once again it all comes down to the love of football. I would want to play every game full stop and if that meant me going to a "lower club" for about the same money then I would take it.

Contractually he is doing nothing wrong. Chelsea signed him for a set period and have a contractual obligation to pay him whether he plays or not. If they want rid they can buy him out of his contract.

For his own personal ambitions I suppose he is wasting his talent sitting on the bench.

There are such things as personal pride, professionalism and job satisfaction

Man City would deffo have him back and it is not as if he would be earning peanuts there

considering he has spent most of his chelski career on the bench - no club would pay him the wages he is currently on - there is no other option for him, sit on the bench and pick up a hefty pay packet or go elsewhere and earn less

remember, football is a job for these guys

My heart bleeds for him. Take a paycut and only earn about £40,000 a week

He's probably on what £100k, would he really struggle financially if he went somewhere for 60k a week and was an important first team player for them?

    personally i would rather play!

    But

it is possible that he does see it as a job and enjoys being at chelsea not having to work awfully hard and getting to play around in the reserves. Hang out in london and generally do whatever he likes cos he's loaded and he's a footballer!
    OR

Maybe he genuinely feels he could work his ass off and break into the team next year??

New gaffer coming and Malouda potentially on his way out may create some chances for him.

He had a good run in the team when the Africans were away so he knows he's capable of playing at the required level of football.

Should have stayed at City or gone to Arsenal from a footballing/career point of view, money-wise most people wouldn`t turn down the £80,000 or so he gets at Chelsea.

If he came back to City I think they are prepared to offer him around £50,000 a week.

I think this window will be even more active than last years. Should be a cracking season next year.
