Save My A$$ Please!

Does anyone else get 'the sh*ts' from all this extra protein in their diet?

I've noticed that im going to the loo far more frequently than before, which of course is perfectly understandable since im taking in a much higher volume of food. But i've noticed that i keep getting the runs, and not sure if its due to all the extra protein, or something else in my diet that's changed, such as all the oats etc?

Perhaps its just my body acclimitising itself to the big change in diet?

Im not sure, of the specifics on the fibre Trigga, but i thought fibre was supposed to make you more 'regular' as in help you to go? - im looking for the opposite effect. So far, as an emergency measure, i've taken some Imodium.

Post up your current diet, wouldn't take to much imodium will hold things up for a while!!

I find with high protein diets i get the reverse effect.

I found that Whey had a bad effect on my guts. Tried all sorts of different powders and the only only I could keep hold off was Met-RX (it isn't whey) so I am a happy camper now!

Nothing worse than spending all that money and then seeing it being washed down the pan!

BTW - stay clear of the immodium, if you have the $hit's it is for a reason. As long as you keep hydrated, you should be OK.

So poor hydration leads to the 'runs' ??

"flushed down the pan" <-- made me laugh!

High protein diet having the reverse effect Danny - im envious. I will post up the diet in a bit.

OK, done some extensive research, and the consensus seems to be that is could be caused by:

Viral infections. Many viruses cause diarrhea, including rotavirus, Norwalk virus, cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex virus, and viral hepatitis.

Food intolerances. Some people are unable to digest some component of food, such as lactose, the sugar found in milk.

Parasites. Parasites can enter the body through food or water and settle in the digestive system. Parasites that cause diarrhea include Giardia lamblia, Entamoeba histolytica, and Cryptosporidium.

Reaction to medicines, such as antibiotics, blood pressure medications, and antacids containing magnesium.

Intestinal diseases, like inflammatory bowel disease or celiac disease.

Functional bowel disorders, such as irritable bowel syndrome, in which the intestines do not work normally.

I doubt i have any of the more serious things, as this has only started happening since i started my bulking diet. I imagine im intolerant to someting in there? - I use the same brand whey as always, so not sure its the why. Diet to follow soon.
