Scotland's Strongest Man 2004

Went to Glenrothes yesterday to watch Scotland's Strongest Man 2004. Great day out and think everybody there would agree with me. Event organised very well with special mention to Jamie Barr for supplying excellent quality equipment. Competition was fierce, with Paul Porteus, Brian Turner and Stuart Murray being pretty evenly matched in most events. At the end of the day however, Paul came through to lift the title of SSM 2004. Will definately be watching out for him in the British! Well done to all athletes who took part.
Finally, have to say I was disappointed to learn Louis Maclean wouldn't be making the event this year. Would have put my money on Louis to be in top 3 this year without a doubt, and he was sorely missed yesterday. Hope to see him again competing sometime in the future, an excellent all round strongman athlete.

I met him a few years ago when he was powerlifting in Shotts prison. He was a strong boy (he won the Scottish open that day) and was in great nick.

I heard he had been caught with a few pills. Nice guy though

Think I may have seen you actually powerhouse, although there were a few of J.L. boys on the stage.
Is a shame bout Louis, met him on a number of occassions and always found him to be a pretty spot on lad, always willing to give advice on training and knew there may have been a chance he wouldn't be making this years event. Young Chris Innes did do well in is opening year in strongman, I agree that he may be someone to look out for in the future, but as you say only if he manages to keep away fron injury. All the best
    Dave.
