Selective Oestrogen Receptor Modulators (SERMs) VS Aromatase Inhibitors (AIs)

Just wondering if anyone knows if the level of testosterone can be affected by using either (SERMs) or (AIs)?

If AIs block conversion of testosterone into oestrogen then surely the level of testosterone will stay higher for longer?

And if SERMs just block the effects of oestrogen on its respective receptors then surely the level of testosterone will fall quicker if AI's are not used instead of SERMs as some of the testosterone will be converted into oestrogen.

Are we talking on cycle, or natty?

On cycle, no big difference either way. SERMs shouldn't affect testosterone at all. AIs might increase it slightly, but not a significant difference in the grand scale of things (not that much of your testosterone converts to estrogen in the first place). Certainly not enough to improve your gains, since estradiol contributes to them considerably by increasing IGF-1 levels, the marginal increase in testosterone does not compensate for this and people generally gain less from using AIs with their test, not more.

For a natty they both increase testosterone considerably by cutting off the negative feedback from estrogen.

Thanks for the information. Never knew about affects of estradiol on IGF-1 levels.

as above generally your gains will reduce if you take AI's not massively, perhaps 2lb over a cycle but you need to balance that up against the side effect you're trying to avoid. as always don't take a drug if you don't NEED to. if you don't get gyno, acne, excessive water retention why would you take  AI's? if you DO get those side effects then it's worth losing a bit of potential muscle to avoid bad gyno or unsightly acne
