Severe Pain HELP

short and sweet here goes

this has happned to me now on the last 2 times ive tried to complete Deadlifts and Squats

been adding weight as I go along and for ex today put the weight up to 100kg for me deadlift now I managed the first 7 reps of my set of 8 and then BANG my head almost exploded I got an almighty spasm of pain on the right side of my head forcing me to drop the weight ! I nearly felt sick and couldnt even bend down to take the weight of the bar it took me a full 5 mins before I could even move - the same thing happned to me on my squat at 100kg got to second set of 8 and again it hit me I thought it was a one off but seeing as its happened again today what the hell could it be.. Ive stil got the pain now over 8 hrs later not as bad I went and did some cardio after but still felt like crap - I felt ok in getting the weight up and yeah my legs felt as though they were realy pushing but no more than before .. I always warm up with a few sets at lower weight and no probs .. so is this serious what the heck should I do .. Ive recently had a brain scan not related and there were no issues ...

so HELP if I cant do these excercises what alternatives could I do is there anyway round it or some obvious probs ????

your help is apprecaited as im at my wits end as to whats caused this issue all of a sudden

i had a similar problem.if its the same thing its not too serious, you just nedd to get it sorted and rest for a few weeks.

with me, it was my scapulai ( spelling? ) muscle.... the 1 that connects your shoulder blade yo your skull.
    hense the headache/spasm feeling.

find yourself a good osteopath. they may even be able to advise you on future problems you may have.

and as for not doing deads or squats.... dont worry about it.
i dont do either any more ( due to a hypermobile vertibrai )

leg presses, extensions and leg curls for your legs
shruggs, t bar rows, machine rows and hyper extensions for back.. ( all done very carefully )

Thanks for the reply m8 did this happen all of a sudden in your case like mine and how did you find out it was your Scapula what I mean is how long did it go on for before you consulted an Osteopath ? how do you cope now do you stick to the above mentioned excercises and stear clear of Deads And Squats all together .... OR if I leave it for a week or 2 do you think I could continue or will it come back again just seems that ive hit this barrier were its stared to kick in lower weights fine is it due to to much strain ie should I drop weights and take it easier and not go bang for buck so to speak

Got it just searched on this forum and this is the Puppy

looks like breathing and lower weights and a bit of rest from heavy weights for a week or Two .... Ill have to see how it goes for a bit but it would seem leg presses are worse than Squats for this kind of thing

Glad to see im not the only one though

    about a day

yep... do miss deading though. not from a bodybuilding point of view though. more an ego thing

if you do em right theyre fine.

keep your head on the pad, to keep your spine in good posture. ( no. 1 mistake is to lift your head and look at yourself in the mirror while your pressing a silly amount of kilos )
dont go so far down that your lower back comes off the pad...
hold your breath through the movement
    take it slow !!

    good luck fella

been through this myself though i did it twice whilst doing military press on the smith machine.

i pushed a little hard, was burning up in the face about to explode then had to put the weight down on the last rep.

dizzyness, biggest headache of my life and sickness followed. the headache lasted for 2 weeks and it was pure banging.

i saw a phsyio and she did a couple of scans on it (what they give preggers women lol) and that seemed to ease it off along with a bit of massage.

IMO looking back i probably caused it myself from lifting my head forward during the lift. without a doubt it should be flat back on the bench.

probably better to go get it checked out rory as the surrounding muscle tissue can swell and calcify.
if left as is, it can be easily injured in the future as you will lose muscle flexibility in that area !!
