Should I try to bulk up or strip fat first?

I'v been training for about 2 month, , I just go to the gym and arse about with the weights with no particular routine and my diet has been p!ss poor too.
I want to start training seriously with a goal a routine and atleast a half decent diet.
I'm carrying quite a bit of fat at the moment- I'v got moobs and a gut but not much muscle mass, should I bulk up first then cut or should I try to get rid of the moobs and gut then concentrate on getting big afterwards?
Or what about trying to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time? Can it be done?
I know its a controversial topic on these boards, but surely as a beginner this could be an option for me?

A good diet, sorted weights regime, cv a couple of times a week and some dedication will allow you to do both albeit slower the purely cutting or bulking.  This is especially so as you are relatively new to training- you can expect beginner gains in terms of strength and also that you body will be burning a lot more calories (fat hopefully) because of the increase in physical activity.

However don't expect results overnight, monitor your progress regularly and don't lose focus of your aims.  All the effort is worth it when you see results!

    Good luck
