RE: Small portion or eat big?
Ok, things will be dependant upon whether you're cutting or bulking, however.
Eat small portions - Instead of eating 3 meals per day each consisting of 650 cals each for example.
Eat 6 meals containing 325 calories in each.
When we bulk, we say, "eat big to get big".
So, you have larger portions in those 6 meals, possibly add a 7th, 8th meal, etc... But get a lot of cals from clean foods.
