Snoring remedies

Ok so my snoring lately is causing me a lot of problems lately, big part of the marriage breakdown and moving out to get a good night sleep (there was more too it than that mind ) but I've slept in a few different beds in the past few months and not once have I woke up next to them , either in in a different bed or they are !

Has anyone had any kind of success with anti snoring devices or surgery , I've been looking at some of the mouthpieces and a cpap before having a surgeon go anywhere near me , but just as t to know if anyone has had anything that helped , tried some of the anti snoring spray which was pretty useless and dropped a lot of bodyweight which has helped in years gone by but not any more!

Yes this is my second sleep thread (sleep paralysis) and now snoring , maybe one makes the other worse in it sure ! Pls help !

You may have tried them Doc although it was a simple fix for me. I don't use them now as my "new" missus wears earplugs lol but the adhesive nose strips stopped my snoring. Worth a try if you haven't tried them?

never even crossed my mind , alwys thought they where a bit of a fad , how can a strip on your nose affects your airway in your throat , will try them though for sure !

Thought we would have a lot more  18 stone snoring machines on MT !!

I have found that the more muscular you are and bf doesn't alter it for me, the more I snore. More muscle means less room for airways etc. Only solution for me which came about unintentionally was to reduce muscle mass. My snoring vanished. I will still if I fall asleep on my back, but I'm a side or front sleeper.

I did try a mouth guard once, it was horrendously uncomfortable and hurt my teeth a great deal. It didn't really work either.

So for me, front or side sleeping, lose muscle around your neck!

According to my wife my snoring stops completely and I'm pleasant to sleep next to when I don't eat carbs. And it's a lot worse after a cheat meal/ few beers etc.

My father inlaw bought one of these . It didn't work

He bought you that...

My Mrs snores like a trooper sometimes, on good nights I just wear earplugs, if it really vibrates thru the bed then the sofa it is

I get a few punches to the back of the head, or a tit in the mouth depending on her mood, both stop my snoring.

i only generally snore after a few drinks so it's an easy fix for me personally. in the past the Mrs has worn ear plugs or more lately just wakes me up with a 'stop it' lol

Did a snoring study a few years back. Have sleep apnoea (sp?) scale 1-10 doc says about 3.

Tried the CPAP machine made me sound like darth vader breathing and the moisture would form droplets and tickle my nose so no sleep either way lol.

Since then I bought a cheapy mouth guard that holds your jaw forward a bit. Helped a lot and noticed a big difference in alertness in first week. You can go to dentist to get a proper mouth guard that is better for teeth but I am too tight for that TBH.

Me and the misses snore.
Feels like a competition as to who can get to sleep the fastest.
Looser goes in back room sometimes.

sleep disturbance don't seem to bother me as much these days, a stint working nights has conditioned me, plus the cat likes to sit on my chest at 3am for some reason.

Pisses misses off though, so il keep an eye on this thread for ideas.

We both snore (not all the time). I put up with it or sleep on the sofa if my wife is "going for it". My wife is kind enough to wake me up and let me know all about it when I snore.

I don't know what your living arrangements are but do you ever get complaints from the neighbours about your snoring?

yes , went from my married bedroom to a spare room to living on my own , snoring was a massive part of the problems , neighbours would bang on the walls as it was an adjoining wall and with nearly new houses the walls are very thin .

my snore chart is much worse than that , hopefully this mouth piece can help , im epic most of the night  the new bird says she could never live with me whilst my snoring is the way it is and to be honest im quite happy about that .

wow that's bad. I had a moan at my neighbours about their music and the retorted about my snoring. I had no idea it was that bad that they could hear it through a concrete wall. I don't live with my GF so she didn't have an issue. I've lost abut two stone since then and I no longer snore at all apparently.

ive been to 19 stone and my snoring was quite bad, now around 15.7 with viens in my legs so not sure being over weight is an issue , unless it goes worse on muscular weight , I think water retention is an issue as it goes worse when i take stuff like DBol , valium actually helps my snoring , antihistamines make it worse , very confusing , maybe its age.

Have you got the guard yet? Expect your jaw to ache for a few days but you will get used to it mate.

Let us know how you get on. I have a cheapo one but have seen your model in the stores. Bit expensive though.

Doc, how thick is your neck?

I remember reading a while ago that generally the bigger the neck, the more you snore.
