So is he right or am i right?

Hey all, posted a pic of my supplements on facebook just to see what people said because i thought this is the most iv ever had...
 
so anyways, a guy i know who works out but isnt big or anything just kinda broad shoulder'dsays what are you taking all that for you looking to put on weight?
 
it was just protein, creatine, vitamins, but looked like alot because of the 2 bags of protein and 2 creatine bags.
 
anwyays i said no its just regular protein, he said yeh but that will make you put on weight is it 100%
(can you even get 100% i thought they were all 70-80%)
 
i says yeh im bulking but protein wont make you put on weight he said he put on a stone and a half so he has stopped taking it now and is cutting, i kinda had to laugh but maybe im wrong?
 
as far as i can tell his diet isnt that good you wouldnt walk down the street and go yeh he works out he just has big shoulders and stuff, iv been taking the stuff for over a year now and it hasnt made me put on much weight that i can tell..id say a combination of his bad/normal diet along with whatever protein he bought has caused him to put on weight along with the weight training hes been doing.
 
put it this way he goes to a gym that charges £40 a year membership i went for a week and it was crowded and not very good tbh personal trainers sat there and chatted had to wait for machines couldnt get into the dumbbells for ages.
 
 
any ideas? am i wrong or is he wrong?

    Per 30g:
    Energy: 111.0Kcal
    Energy: 472.0KJ
    Protein (dry basis): 27.9g
    Protein (as-is): 27.7g
    Fat: 0.3g
    Carbohydrates: 0.2g
    Calcium: 120.0mg
    Cholesterol: 0.6mg
     
    I'm guessing a kilo of the stuff a day will make you put weight on.

    I used to read these things on here and not believe them until a friend of mine came out with similar.
     
    When he wanted to train and 'get ripped' as he put it, I just advised he would need to eat better and cut out th constant junk, add more protein, he replied 'I don't need protein, protein makes you fat, I've been ripped before and I'll do it again, it's a case of turning this fat into muscle.'
     
    People really don't have a clue and I can't be bothered with an argument with people who think they are right.

    Protein will make you fat in your existing diet is poor and you supplement putting extra calories on top of a bad diet, surprising how ,many people you see eat badly and then also wash down with a shake ,bit like the folks in the chippy who get the full course of fried mayhem and then add a diet coke.
     
    If the basics arent right supplements will do very little IMO

    Everyone has been in shape,but not everyone is IN shape,its about where your going not where you have been.

    I have a old 'friend' on my FB who updates his status every 5mins with 'gym soon', 'good session today', 'benched 5kg today'...etc..
     
    Also puts pics up regularly zoomed into his arms pushing them out whilst crossing them and you can see his double chin etc, lovely images basically!
     
    Point being, I don't want to see these pics/status' on facebook so neither do you're friends and those that do are bellends as above.
     
    Morale of the story is don't post about training!!

    Its the diet overall, as others have said, if the rest of your diet is crap then weight will be put on, but its unlikely to be the protein shakes alone
