Solihull Pump Track Project - Get on your BMX

I hope this is OK.  If not then please delete and call me a naughty boy.

Basically I have been in talks with my local council about developing a very poor attempt at a BMX track in Olton, Solihull.  At the moment it stands as a single dirt circuit with two very small and sad looking lumps in it.  The fact that the land is already designated as a "BMX Track" means that half the hard work is done as we will be merely developing what is already there.  Myself and another guy have so far set up a facebook page and got some track building companies to submit designs and quotes.  The council are very interested and already talking about looking for suitable funding streams.  I shall be going into a second meeting with them in the coming weeks to hopefully push the project along some more and find out exactly what extra work (if any) will need to be done to secure the full amount.

Anyway, I'm pushing the facebook page to get as much support as possible to show interest.  I would be most grateful if you could get on and click "like" for me.

He is the latest design which I'm incredibly excited about.  I think that this looks soooo much fun.

If you haven't tried BMX track riding I can't recommend it highly enough.  One of the best and most fun forms of cardio you'll ever do.  You don't need to go there expecting to take off the jumps like Evil Kinevel.  You can have just as much fun and get just as much from it by keeping both wheel son the ground.  The art of just "pumping" alone is definitely a skill.

Thanks again

BMX riding is the nuts! Kids need to put down the computer games and get out in the fresh air more. I've just got myself a nice DMR. Never grow up because Goonies never say die.

That is pretty sweet!  I've been riding down at Birmingham BMX Track in Perry Barr recently.  It's a beast of a track that was built to host the nationals in 2012.  It's been developed and looked after beautifully since then.  The guy who got it all sorted there is hoping to expand the place soon to include MB trails, Dirt Jumps, 4x Track and any other type of bike related facility you can think of.  It'll be biking mecca!!  There's always a decent amount of guys riding down there on full sus mountain bikes.  You should give it a go if you're not too far away??  I'm sticking to 20" myself as I find anything bigger really awkward.

Thought I'd just share a bit of an update on this old post.  Amazingly after two years of work rallying the council we had our BMX track built and ready to ride from last weekend.  The finished product is even better than I could ever imagined and it's a massive success with residents in the area.  Since it's been open it's been ridiculously busy from morning till dark and the atmosphere there has been fantastic.  The spread of ages from 2 to 60 has kept things really nice and there's been no trouble at all.  Part of my pitch to the council was the fact that if you built a track instead of a skate park you're more likely to get adults there as well as kids to use the facility and I was totally right.  We had a 2 year old there today on a balance bike and you couldn't get him off it.  I think the council are that impressed there could be a couple more popping up in other local parks soon.  If you're local to Solihull then get yourself and your kids down there to have a go.  It's the most fun doing cardio you'll ever have

    That looks brilliant m8!
We had a huge indoor skate park built a few years ago in our area. It was busy day and night yet the council decided that tearing it down just recently to build flats was a better idea 👎🏻🙁
