So.....who's dumping their tax disc tomorrow?

As of tomorrow you no longer have to display the tax disc in your car. Are you going to keep it there until it expires? Dump it? Or maybe frame it for prosperity?

Mine is going in the bin....hate having things stuck inside the window.

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning how to dance in the rain.

ooh I forgot about that!

I wasn't sure if you had to display your current disk until it ran out! Mine is due for renewal at the end of October so I will almost certainly leave it till then and then remove it to keep a nice clear window!

Might be fun to leave up an expired one to annoy the traffic wardens though

Its sad in a way - always a little ritual of mine, keeping all of the cars tax disks.

Mine's going on my motobroombroom. The tax disc holder has metal pins and rattles when I ride

I didn't even know about this?  Has it been well publicised?

I'd have thought so. Basically there are no ore tax discs at all and you can now pay by monthly direct debit if you want to with a 5% surcharge.

Can you remove current dated ones, or just from the point of getting renewed?

Would love a clean screen, but still have my MOT disc to put up.

Assuming it's the same in your neck of the woods, yes, you can remove current discs. Mine has around 10 months on it and I've taken it out of the windscreen.

never have them on my bikes anyway - too easy to nick from a bike IMO so I keep 'em in my wallet.  Been stopped and queried but when I explained my reasoning and the fact they could check the bike's status without looking for the tax disc holder, plod went away happy.

I never use my indicators, I don't like people knowing what I'm up to

They're saving money on less admin which is great.

However, if I undertsand this correctly, when you now sell your car, they will automatically refund the seller the value of any full months remaining on the tax.  The new owner has to apply for new tax to cover any full or part months.  So the DVLA are in effect getting money from 2 people for the same car for one month.

I'm sure most bikers will agree with me here but thank god!

Its the most fidely annoying job in the world changing the tax disc on a bike!
