Squat shoes

Hi

I'm going to invest in some squat shoes.  Can anyone recommend any?  Also, can you get some with slightly higher heels than others and is there any rules on height in a competition?

Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    I use these

    No complaints so far.
I'm not sure of rules and regs for heel height but I have heard of some lifters going to the cobblers and having height added to the heel.

    Depends on how you squat.

I personally prefer a flat shoe, such as wrestling boots or converse.

Any shoe with a heel will make a squat more quad dominant, general rule is only use them if you squat with a narrower stance.

Most PL now use flat shoes.

I do this. I prefer a boot and they tend not to have as high a heel as the shoes in the link. Sheep's clothing is quite correct that many PLers use flat shoes, but it alters the dynamics of the lift a lot. Generally it is harder to hit depth in a flat shoe than in a heeled one and a heel tends to keep the back more vertical that with a flat shoe. Best to try both and see for yourself which you prefer, personally I can't hit depth in a flat shoe so it's always a heel for me.

Cheers guys.  I've tried flat shoes but I can't get the depth I need for a competition, i think heels will help.  I've seen a 2nd hand pair on ebay I'm going to get so I can try them first before spending any serious money!

    Cheers again.
