Stephen9069 - Injury riddled garage strength log

Thought Id start a journal here after crossing over from Sugden Barbell 
 
I recognise a few members here but for those that don't im an ex strongman I competed 3 times placing 5th, 1st and 5th with my last comp being about 4-5 years ago.
 
My best lifts are - 
 
Bench press - 200kg x 1 (TnG) - 180kg x 1 (Paused)
Squat - 225kg 
Deadlift - 300kg x 1
 
I can no longer get near these numbers after more or less spending the last couple years Injured or just not bothering to train I have been very very inconsistent.
 
My goals now are just to bring my weight down I was 19st 5lbs last week currently sitting at 18st 8lbs and to find some consistency.  Im also contemplating going back to doing a bit of boxing to help with the weight loss but im not 100% decided on that yet.

I hurt my sternum last week and had a week away from pressing to rest it, I didn't want to push it to hard today as its still a bit tender so kept the weight light and paused all the reps to help stretch out my chest.

Watch that sternum mate..i;ve had similar in the past and it bloody hurts.

Watch that sternum mate..i;ve had similar in the past and it bloody hurts.

Definitely is an awkward injury every now and again it can take your breath away and feels like bruising to touch.
 
The weirdest thing is I have no clue how I initially done it lol, just another one to add to the injury list I guess lol.

When I did mine it gave me a clicking chest..for years! Only recently stopped!

Welcome to MT mate. Do you have a goal BW in mind then?

 
1RM's @ BW 90kg:
Squat - 170kg / Bench - 120kg / Deadlift - 210kg / Strict OHP - 77.5kg

Welcome to MT mate. Do you have a goal BW in mind then?


I don't really know mate iv never been less than 18 stone at my lightest so anything less than that preferably.  I was thinking maybe aim for 17 stone and reassess from there.

Im 32 now so still got plenty of time to rebuild to some decent numbers as long as things hold together long enough.

Late training session tonight but enjoyed it once I got out there and got into the flow of things.
 
The Bench press wasn't heavy and done with 20-30 seconds rest between sets just playing it safe with my sternum there wasn't any pain there just really tight.

Cheers mate another restart but cant push to hard at the minute so it gives me plenty of time to get some volume in and slowly increase.

I have been training but iv been a bit hectic to log anything.
Iv checked out the boxing gym and will be starting on Friday which im looking forward to, im still going to be weightlifting 3-4 days a week but it will be more than just focusing on strength.

FRIDAY - 30-NOVEMBER-2018
 
First boxing session tonight and I have to say I think I almost died lol my lungs will have doms tomorrow.
 
I definitely have to work on my conditioning its shocking.  
 
Lower session tomorrow and then back to the boxing Monday.
